Bean Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Hardcore has map voting, which is great. It also has a large selection of maps, which is also pretty great. What it really shouldn't have: The option to call for a "nextmap" vote once a map has been voted in. Due to the distribution of votes across numerous (more than two) options, legitimately-voted maps can frequently be by-passed. This causes disruption and disappointment, two things a community is best to avoid. I think the problem was best described by Antichrist in a recent, indirectly-related thread: [a nextmap vote was cancelled]...If I allow that vote to continue, the players who voted for every other map, can all vote to skip this one map. Making the minority votes combined into a single majority. Really not too fair... Think of it this way: On Hardcore there are 6-8 maps that are played 90% of the time. Then your favourite map, not one of those 6-8, is voted in. It rarely comes up, so you're stoked. Then someone calls for a nextmap vote (not cool) and then a slim majority votes for it to pass (also not cool). Disappointing to say the least. I make it a policy to always vote no when that happens, even if I don't like the map. Respect for others. I would suggest that the nextmap vote option be disabled, or changed to require a higher threshold (80% or thereabouts?) to pass. If either of those are impossible, I would appeal to all players to respect the initial vote: Please don't call for a nextmap vote, and if someone does, please vote it down. 1 Quote
Aniky Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Afaik there's a possibility to disable next map vote, as well as shuffle teams per exp, i assume it hasn't been removed till now as it wasn't that big of a deal for majority of time, but seeing that it isn't that rare occasion that players actually vote for next map and that vote passes, it would be wise to have that removed so that those maps that come up once in a while that aren't standard ones played, can be actually played in total and that small group of players enjoy it as well. I assume Dare can look into that and manage to set it differently if he wishes and finds time for it. 1 Quote

Administrators daredevil Posted January 5, 2016 Administrators Posted January 5, 2016 2 reasons: 1. Sometimes map get stuck cos of bad mapscripts so we had map voting but with new improved silent mod versions we restricted votes to first 5 mins bcos some people kept on calling on votes. 2. We had less map repeat cool off period. i mean u can vote for map A after voting 3 other maps. I believe we have increased that one too. I could go ahead and disable nextmap. Most of our admins have very less commands to moderate the server compare to other clans. I was and always against the commands even when i was a regular on other clan servers. It's like giving a loaded gun to people hand. Sometimes people get frustrated and end up firing it for no reasons. Now people are people. They are bound to get frustrated for whatever reason is sometimes. The only best solution was never to give loaded guns. I will go ahead and disable nextmap. 5 Quote
Bean Posted January 5, 2016 Author Posted January 5, 2016 I will go ahead and disable nextmap. Wow, thanks very much for considering the proposal, and for taking action on it so quickly! Super appreciated, sir. Quote
