Windows updates

Alright, I just had a question involving Windows Vista...

 

Why does my computer want to install new updates everyday. I can understand to keep the system updated, but I am finding myself d/l at least 4 new updates each day. Are they nessecary to install, is this normal??

 

Its been buggin me for a while now, thought I would ask

That's very uncommon. Windows Update updates the system usually on the second Tuesday of each month ("Patch Tuesday"). Is it possible that any of your installed applications update that often through Windows Update?

My Windows 7 also patches very often, sometimes twice in a day. Also my fresh installation of XP on laptop patches every time I start it (probably there's loads of updates and it has to catch up quite a bit).

Seriously? Mine patches exactly once a month.

i allways dig my win7 option too lets you choose wut updates u want and when u want o install

lol they are trying to give me the same updates for office 2007, to check if its legit which its not. I just disable updates.

Depending on when you installed your OS, u'll get a lot of updates. Like win7 is pretty new, so there aren't too many updates yet. But xp and vista have a TON, so when you install its now, u'll be updating for a bit.

 

When I installed XP it took about 2 days to update completely.

I'm running windows 7 and I'm getting these definition updates all the time too just like Saizou..

I doubt much is having to update like that. All the updates are for "windows service pack update windows vista64" Its weird, I dont Know why it keeps updating.

Ginger, is there any chance there is an update failing to install and it is repeating the process? Would you mind posting your update logs like Saizou did?

Well according to the log its not installing things everyday, if you have windows update set to check for updates every day, then windows update icon will show up every time you turn comp on. Change it to once a week or once a month. Also set it so it tells you when updates are available not to download them right away, that way you can select which updates to install.

I see the icon that tells me updates are availible, I just dont have patience to let it d/l and install.

 

I set it to customized instead of default, was looking for updates everyday at 3am XD. Hopefully this stops the annoyance of it popping up.
