Methuselah
I need to remove XP Defender Pro virus and windows security center virus. I tried to download monopoly here and now off frost-wire and when I opened the file my computer now has this virus. I tried searching the web to find out how to remove it but all those sites were designed so that you pay to have the virus removed probably by the same assholes that created the virus. I tried following the remove it manually section but they are the same. Do any of you know how I can remove this/these viruses?
Papito
i thinks is a Malware! Restart your PC, repeatedly press F8 to enter Safe mode, do the following steps with the Anti-Malware and then with CCleaner. Download it! Threat Removal Procedure: 1. Download Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (mbam-setup.exe) and save it on your Desktop. 2. After downloading, double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. 3. Follow the prompts and install as “default†only 4. Before the installation completes, check on the following prompts: Update Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware Launch Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware 5. Click “Finish.†Program will run automatically and you will be prompt to update the program before doing a scan. Please update. 6. Scan your computer thoroughly. 7. When scanning is finished click on the “Show Results†8. Make sure that all detected threats are marked, click on Remove Selected. 9. Restart your computer. Before download the CCleaner

Perhaps I'm wrong, but wouldn't you have to choose Safe Mode with networking support in order to be able to update Malwarebytes?
Administrators JoeDirt Posted March 30, 2010 Administrators Share Posted March 30, 2010 Best way I found in removing these types of malware is to follow the manual instructions first, disable system restore google remove xp defender pro removal, once you have done that download malwarebytes update it, and let it scan it, then download hijackthis and use it to remove any instances of malware there as well. If you do not know how to use hijack this, just create a log and post it. Also one more thing I have found is that you will not be able to go and download malwarebytes and hijackthis since you will be redirected, if thats the case google hijackthis filehippo and download it from there run it and post the log. If its not letting you execute malwarebytes or hijackthis simply rename the filename to something else.
