Mr. Grimm Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 (edited) Hey everyone! First, I'd like to say that this rule is in NO way involved with Fearless Assassins. So, I've been admin on a rust server for awhile and have implemented a very controversial rule, and I wanted you guys' opinions on it. The rule states that all members below the age of 13 are banned (until they turn 13). I hate kids, but that's not the reason for the rule. In the Steam Terms and Conditions (the conditions you all clicked 'yes' to without reading), it states that to have a Steam account, you must be 13 years or older. In my point of view, if you can't follow Steam's rules, you can't follow the server's rules. It's been argued about for awhile now, and it hasn't seemed to stop. Please leave a reply! ~Mr. Grimm, The Grimm Train UPDATE: I found out that it's not in the subscriber conditions, but it's rather in the "Create an Account" page at the bottom. https://store.steampowered.com/join/ Edited September 2, 2014 by Mr. Grimm Quote
Platonic Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Banning kids if they behave? No idea what kind of sense that makes. They can lie about their age (13 year olds can be very immature) and no one strictly respects age limits, that doesn't mean they'll cheat or advertise. It will empty your servers for no good reason, imo. No idea how you're going to enforce this rule either. All matter of opinions ofc, you do whatever you judge best, but I really can't see the point. 16- children drink a beer sometimes. 18- children watch porn sometimes. Some 16- children have sexual exploration, law or no law. In the same way, 13 year olds will be playing games, whether you want it or not. Doesn't make them criminals. Only one concern would be valid to me: education. But imo, shooter games make no violent children/people. 1 Quote
Chameleon Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 I think that is being a bit tough.. keeping kids from being a clan member with certain powers? Yes I think there should be an age standard, but as far as keeping them from playing? Nah, I think ET/Minecraft and so on are for kids/adults of all ages. There are adults that are far more immature than some of the kids.. I think looking at behavior and so on should be the deciding factor personally Quote
Thundercats Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 I agree it is harsh. If I am not mistaken i think COD4 is 18 and above and we have plenty of admins/members between the age of 15-17 Quote
FireWienie Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Not that good of a rule. honestly I'm pretty sure there there are many 13 year olds who have steam. Although you might hate kids, ban/kick the ones that constantly b***/hack/whine/advertise. It will keep the servers clean and it wont be too harsh Quote
Pebbls Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 There is nothing wrong with it. I don't like younger gamers in Survival fps games. I have come across some very mature younger folks in game but a majority act their age. kids will be kids. What type of server is it? battlefield, survival, or a stock server? Quote
Mr. Grimm Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 What type of server is it? battlefield, survival, or a stock server? It's a modded PVP server. Quote
