Minecraft Minecart and redstone glitch

You can see other caves, lava, and water all around you by doing the following.. you get a block of redstone, minecart, and rail, and right click on th minecart and you got it!

I doubt that's a glitch; rather that happens when the chunks aren't loading properly- usually due to too slow of an internet connection. It's common on servers, but you'll never see it on single-player games.
