I'm making this poll to see if some people would be interested in a friendly NHL playoffs pool?

The way it works is you rank each team in the playoffs from 1 to 16.

16 = the team you think will win the Stanley Cup

15 = the team you think will lose in the final

...

1 = the team you think has no chance to go through the first round.

After each round, you are awarded points using the rank you gave to the winning teams.

(I have a Excel workbook that calculates everything, i don't have it with me right now so the multipliers might be different)

1st round = x1 pts

2nd round = x2 pts

3rd round = x4 pts

final round = x8 pts

Example 1:

I gave San Jose a rank of 16 and they actually win the Stanley Cup.

1st round = 16 x 1 = 16 pts

2nd round = 16 x 2 = 32 pts

3rd round = 16 x 4 = 64 pts

final round = 16 x 8 = 128 pts

So San Jose would have given me 240pts.

Example 2:

I gave Boston a rank of 15 but they lose in the 3rd round.

1st round = 15 x 1 = 15 pts

2nd round = 15 x 2 = 30 pts

3rd round = 0 pts

final round = 0 pts

So Boston would have given me 45pts.

We do this with every team, add up all the points, then we see who had the best predictions!

Answer the topic poll if you are interested, thanks :)

I ask now because there isn't many days between the end of the season and the start of the playoffs.

So you guys can think about your choices for the rest of the season. Once the playoffs starts, no more people will be allowed to join the pool!

I'll make another topic once we know which teams make the playoffs and all the match ups. (If enough people are interested)

Yeah im in!! :)

So i ask if im understand correctly. So when regular season end we all send our 16 teams guess list! So in 1 - 8 teams will be out after first round right? So if i (example) choose that Anaheim will be out after first round and choose Anaheim number to 8 i get only 8 point. But if anaheim go and win cupi i will get 8x1 plus 8x2 plus 8x4 and 8x8 point right?

Plus if you do that in different topic i not follow that in our NHL 2013-2014 topic.

Great Idea!!

If Anaheim doesn't win the first round, you get 0 point.

The teams need to win a round to give you points.

You are right if they win the Cup, you get 8x1 + 8x2 + 8x4 + 8x8.

Logically, rank 1-8 would be the teams you think will lose in the first round. But that's up to you.

Let's say Anaheim vs Minnesota in first round. And you think one of them will win the cup, you can give them 16 and 15 rank if you want.

In the end it's your strategy to give the numbers you want to the teams.

Alright, the playoffs match ups are all set!

Even though there isn't a lot of people who seem interested, let's do it anyway!

Here is the link to see the playoffs tree and help you decide: http://www.nhl.com/ice/stanleycup.htm

Rules are posted in the first post of this thread.

You can post your picks here or send them to me by Private Message if you don't want others to copy you.

You have until Wednesday 6h59pm Eastern time to send them.

At 7pm on Wednesday, I will post everyone's picks together.
