narc Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Hours-Before-Vote-to-Decriminalize-Pot-DC-Council-Considering-Changes-243392481.html WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I thought this day would never come. I spent my adolescent in Memphis Tennessee, a place where everyone- yes literally everyone from every cop to the mayor to your grandma smokes pot. quarter pounds go for 200 bucks, and blunts get rolled with 10+grams in them. most people start smoking between ages 8-10. I now live in Washington DC, a place where 1 gram goes for 20-35 bucks just by itself, and I have never seen a quarter pound here. Beyond that, I am studying to be a Nurse Anesthetist, a job which will give me access to just about any narcotic you could ever desire, and as a result they drug test the shit out of us- what does this mean? I haven't been stoned in a very, very long time. Well once in between semesters, the paranoia freaked me out and I went and bought one of those system cleaning kits and a at-home drug test. lol. yep, it's like that. Now, don't get me wrong, I am actually anti-weed, as I know full well how it steals the future out from under young people, makes them lackadaisical, slackers, and not give a damn about anything, including a job or a girlfriend. Mkay I get it, stoners are stupid. I know well, me and all of everyone I ever knew as a kid was a stoner. That doesn't mean its bad for me though, I have my own motivation, my own priorities, and my own agenda, no silly drug is going to shake my future. back when i was in school (which was brief) I always got straight A's even being stoned out of my gourd. And to this day I really miss the old days. So!! check it out~ they are not legalizing pot just yet, just decriminalizing possesion and smoking, which is all I need really, not too hard to find someone in Denver and make a pal ^^ , then it will be completely legal, from my acquisition process to the at-home enjoyment after class. My KD on ET will undoubtedly drop, but ehh, I can live with that. I am a high strung person, and getting drunk leads me to problems with the law, not to mention a handful of people within a generation of me have died from complications with chronic ethanol abuse. This is far better for my personality, along with so many others I'm sure. anyways so this bill was just passed yesterday, I just found out. I'm so incredibly excited, I'm not sure I know a word to describe it. I will be going into class in 8 hours or so, and telling every last one of them to find me some pot pronto lol. Until they legalize distribution I will have to find some teenager and score like the olden days. crazy world we live in, yes? Quote
excedo Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) Very good. Less criminality on the streets... If you do your research good, you will see this plant aint that bad as they made it is. I smoke it for 2.5 years now. Edited February 5, 2014 by MOTA.FIED Quote
Antichrist Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 8-10 is too young IMO. Where is the parenting? Christ.. at that age I just wanted to ride my bike with my friends and play video games. ANY drug, when abused will have negative effects. Some drugs have negative effects immediately. I do not believe marijuana to be one of them. I smoked marijuana recreationally for about 8 years. And although I noticed no real addiction or dependence, I did enjoy the effects, so naturally I wanted more. In the same sense, we can say that sex is addictive, food is addictive, your favorite soft drink is addictive. Hell, even for those who enjoy marathons... running is addictive. But I digress.. The Chinese have used marijuana since the 1500's, and possibly earlier, medicinally. The benefits of it far outweigh any negatives, the government allows tobacco products and alcohol, both of which can kill you when used in excess, and alcohol can also cause accidents when under the influence. Marijuana is the same. It DOES impair your abilities, however I have yet to meet one person who is under the influence of marijuana, and is extremely violent. The same can't be said about alcohol. Alcohol is one of the leading causes of domestic violence. I know this from experience. They have used CBD, which is one of 60+/- components in marijuana, with extreme success to treat children with severe epilepsy. It has also been successful in aiding those going through chemotherapy, there has been success using it to treat psoriasis, glaucoma, alzheimers, and the list goes on and on. I see absolutely no reason it shouldn't be completely legalized, and preferably regulated, as some street dealers like to lace their product with other drugs/chemicals to give you a "better" high, which can have negative, and sometimes damaging effects. 7 Quote
narc Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) I smoked from age 11 to age 23, and since 23 (i'm 28 now) I have only gotten stoned once. As far as where is the parenting.. the parents are often the first person you smoke with, at least the families I knew in Memphis. You get curious, you see your friends doing it, so you ask your dad and he takes you out back and you smoke a joint, or something like that. My dad was gone before I ever even saw or knew of pot, so this doesn't apply to me.. Anyways I strongly agree with mota's point on the decreasing of criminalization of an entire section of our national population, and I also agree with the potential addictive nature of anything- addiction is a whimsical word misused by fanatic, sensationalist anti-drug propagandists, plain and simple. Everyone in this world is addicted to multiple things, including straight-edgers. Although, something that is incredibly valid, and is the sole reason why I wouldn't mind every single microgram of pot in this world being destroyed, rendering the plant permanently extinct- is thus: It can, has, does, and will continue to destroy lives. Not in the same way as alcohol- alcohol is blatant and in your face. You wake up and you are in jail and someone tells you that you committed assault with the intent to kill, and you know there is no way you could have done that, it just isn't you. But you don't remember anything so who are you to argue? and they say there are witnesses.. That is a very bad way to wake up. Kinda shits on your whole life just because you took one too many drinks. No, pot is far more deviant than that, far more subversive- pot destroys your life by making you happy, something that simply doesn't cross the average person's mind. I cannot possibly count how many people I know who will forever be stuck in shit jobs- working at a food place, a construction company, going job-to-job, salesmen, car washes, the list goes on and on.. So many of these people could have and would have achieved so much more in their life, but when they were a kid they got stoned, and didn't pay attention in school- as a result their intellect dwindled more and more until one day you wake up 25 years old and it is simply too late for you to ever be smart- that part of your brain, your neural cloud, is shut down permanently. Now you are stuck with whatever you still have left, which is likely just enough to keep the same shit job since you were a teenager. When you are a kid with other people paying your bills, the importance of money doesn't hit home, the overarching motivation in this world is NOT your overarching motivation. When you become addicted to pot then getting stoned is nearly your only motivation, as after you get some pot you lose motivation all together. Any kid, regardless of where they start, can get smarter and smarter. There are so many jobs out there that don't require a lot of schooling that pay quite nicely- assuming you are motivated to go and find those jobs. My point is you don't have to be smart to get a good job, far from it. but you do need motivation, and you do need to train your brain for that job. Stoners lack motivation, and adults lack the ability to train their brain. If you are a stoner as a kid, you might lose those few precious years when you can make anything out of yourself, and get caught in a rut impossible to pull yourself out of. Pot makes you more imaginative and creative, I think we will all agree on that, however that is no substitution for motivation and appreciation of the worth of money and the responsibilities of life. Find a way to prevent kids from using pot, until then I will remain anti-pot, even if I myself am really looking forward to getting stoned. lol. No one I have ever met said I was a normal person, I could rename myself exception-to-the-rule and almost everyone I know would say something like "lol, yeah I get that" Editted for confusing mistypes. razi Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 completely agree with pot being harmful to developing minds...maybe at age 22 or so when most people have finished college (if they wanted to go) and they have likely reached a mental "plateau" ...haze or the intoxicating forms of marijuana should still be outlawed... 1 Quote
narc Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 I agree wholeheartedly. just keep it away from the kids and its absolutely fine. But while kids are abusing it, it is an enemy our our development as a culture, a society, and even as a species. We need our younger generation, now more than ever, and too many geniuses are ending up idiots because pot is cool. Makes me wanna cry. Quote

Can't help but laugh, this is brilliant - the time frame and everything. Hope everything's alright narc? Anitchrist, about 10 years ago we were dealt weed that had been dipped in glass! Yes GLASS! You could hardly tell it was there until you licked the residue off your fingers, and then your teeth would crunch with microscopic pieces of glass. It ended up making national news as it was a massive batch served to us (East of England) over 2-3 months. I think it should be regulated and legalised. The stigma needs to stop. Quote

Antichrist Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Marijuana also has a bad reputation that is ONLY makes people act like the potheads you see in movies. Some that use it are very talented musicians, artists, sculptors, writers, even software engineers FFS. Willie Nelson is a good example. He had a successful music career, he's worth $25 million USD, and openly admits to using marijuana. 1 Quote
Platonic Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I absolutely agree with the most opinions here, but please people, no fallacies... Cannabis is a drug. It's not a hard drug so I do not have a problem with it. People enjoy themselves while using it, same as by eating (often unhealthy) things. Our society has developed a hatred against every life-shortening thing. Rather live a happy life of 60 years than 100 years of boredom, is my answer to this. But please, let's not deny the negative effects... 88,000 deaths attributable to excessive alcohol use each year0 marijuana deaths http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-179264/Cannabis-kills-30-000-year.html Bad source, I know. But as much as I dislike advantages to be ignored, I dislike fallacies praising cannabis to heaven. Cannabis was the narcotic found most in drivers blood when causing a deathly accident (after alcohol). 20% of them actually had taken some sort of drug. Yes, "don't drive then". Same applies for alcohol. Drugs kill, just like many other things. Please don't deny it. 1 Quote
