It’s official: according to NASA, the probe Voyager 1 has become the first man-made object to leave the Solar System and fly through the space between the stars.

â€œNow that we have new, key data, we believe this is mankind’s historic leap into interstellar space,†NASA scientist Ed Stone said in a statement.

When do we get pictures? And imagine, it'll run into another solar system with life!

I know I was thinking the same thing when I read the article.. They said it takes 17 hours to receive radio signals from Voyager, but never announced what the plan was other than sending info, but like you I wanna see some pics! hehehe

17 hours?! I want that job. I could sit and wait 17 hours for a message.

"The Voyager camera's were turned off after the image of the Pale Blue Dot Valentines Day 1990." So there will be no pics any more :cry

And it hasn't left our solar system: ;)

"It's important to note that while Voyager 1 is in a new region of space, it has not left our solar system. Our solar system is defined as everything that is affected by the sun's gravitational force. That includes the Oort cloud, a spherical cloud that outlines the boundary of our solar system. It will take Voyager 1 another 300 years to reach the beginning of the Oort cloud and another 30,000 years or so to exit. It will be 40,000 years before Voyager 1 reaches the nearest star, Gliese 445, and adopts its gravitational pull."

EDIT: engineers "interview" added

I reject your comment and go with the fact that NASA has said it did leave our solar system as it is understood, in fact leaving over a year ago, but waiting for signs to be sure. And in no way take anything from redit or it's sources as anything close to credible.
