Cyen Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Hello All! I usually play COD4 (beginners server) and only today tried to sign onto the FA minecraft server. (Not sure why I never thought of doing this sooner!) But sadly, it wouldn't let me join, as I already updated to the 1.6.x version. I'm not ready to swap out Jars, and that mess. So just curious is there a plan to update the FA server or an estimate when this might happen? Are there any rules I need to be aware of for the FA server? Thanks! Hope to see you all on there sometime soon -cyen Quote
Midnight Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Alrighty, you are not the first and you certainly will not be the last. Go to minecraft.net and under "Already have the Game?" click download here. Then scroll to the bottom and click older versions. Then click you operating system and it should give you the 1.5.2 version. Furyan had to do the same thing. This will not overwrite the 1.6 version but instead make another version. I recommend that you pin both versions to the startup menu or task bar. You will notice that the 1.6 version and 1.5.2 version have slightly different blocks. Hope this helps. 1 Quote
GI-JOE Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 The newest minecraft client should let you create a new profile in an older version of the game, just click on "new profile" then in the pop-up window click on "use latest version" and from that drop menu select 1.5.2 and you should be good to go I will update the server to 1.6.2 as soon as bukkit releases at least a stable beta build for it (unless they put out 1.6.3 before they even have one for it...again). Which for once I'm actually looking forward to since it's actually a really fun update Quote
Cyen Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 Thanks GI-Joe - those instructions worked fine, and it was rather painless. Looking forward to seeing what there is to explore! Thank you also Midnight, but GI-Joes solution seemed less complicated and appears to have worked. Only thing I'm not sure on now, is how to change my user name from my standard logon to something more like =FA= Cyen Or does the admin thing not translate from COD4 over to minecraft. (not looking to be an admin, just that I'm a member of the clan Thx Cyen Quote

(not looking to be an admin, just that I'm a member of the clan Thx Cyen No worries. That was the only way I knew how to do it. As for your name what do you mean? What's your in game name? And to get the tags on your name you will need GI-Joe to set you when you are on the server. I'm not sure if /nick will work. Quote
Drdagger Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 While in the game you can type /nick xxxxxxx X is your desired nickname. There's probably a different way to do it as staff or an admin, but that's the way that I know how to do it. Quote
+GRANNY. aka BONAMANA Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Not my post but I am new to minecraft too. I was on the server few times but I dont even know how to take things of the ground. Couldnt even open a chest to take things. Can anyone direct me to info where i can get basics how to control things in that game? Quote
Midnight Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Yeah we can show you. I don't think there is a guide but I'd be willing to help you through the basics seeing as I have become the trainer. Quote
Cyen Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 Thanks again for the help everyone. Lots to explore and learn! Granny: to pick things up you just need to "walk" over top of them, and as long as you have space in your Inventory "press i to see your inventory", then it will be picked up. Some chests are private, so you won't be able to open them, but in general just press the right mouse btn on a chest and it should open (assuming it's open to the public and not private or locked). Hope that helps. Quote
Midnight Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I thought it was e for inventory. That's the command that I use. 1 Quote
+GRANNY. aka BONAMANA Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I saw ppl were building things there and I could not find anyone on the map. I remember it took me forever to retrieve things from the chest at the first spawn point. I died pathetically few times and left the server. Would be interesting to see what ppl do and maybe do smng too. Will try to join server in nearest future-when I have time. Quote

Midnight Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Minecraft_Wiki This is the minecraft wiki, which will help you figure out what things are. They have already updated the data to 1.6.2, so some of the things we are not able to make on our server since the version is older, ie hay bales and leads. Quote
