Researchers are working on digital smell generators. 

 

Smell-O-Vision may one day come to your movie theater, TV or computer.  Smell-Buds will probably be a primitve first method for mobile devices.  To alleviate breathing problems, the next step will likely be wireless nose-rings, which will not only be decorative, but emit pleasant (or unpleasant) smells to enhance or change your moods at your whim.  Your whiff whim, that is.
