Cappy7 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 So I honestly have found no way to fix it and it's quite annoying. Whenever I open CoD4, it asks if I want to run in safe mode, I have clicked yes, and no. But it still hasn't worked. It opens up, gives me a black screen, then randomly closes, if anyone can help me, thanks a lot! -cappy Quote

yellow flash Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 is your computer's processor good enough to run the game? in my old computer my processor wasn't good enough so i got black screen. Quote
A_Snake Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I had this same problem a while back and did a complete reinstall. If i recall the reinstall did not solve the issue completely. I did a web search on the error related to COD4 and found two files needed to be renamed. Once I did this the game worked fine. I can't recreate the search to give you more without the error meessage you are receiving. Then again, DD may be able to tell you just from the error message what you need to do to correct the issue. Krayzie Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I wish I could give more details, but go to your sound settings in the control panel, make sure all devices for sound recording art shown including the hidden or disabled devices. Make sure the enhanced sound settings or something like that is enabled. It should look like a green sound card. Ill be on xfire tomorrow or I'm sure you can Google it and find wwhat I'm trying to explain. That's what was my issue. Quote
Administrators daredevil Posted October 30, 2012 Administrators Posted October 30, 2012 Windows Vista and above you have "Problem Reports and Solution" in OS. Look into it and give me exact error. Based on that I can help you out. Quote
Revenant Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 If this is anything like the error I used to get, all it took was making sure something was plugged into my microphone jack, even if I wasn't going to be using the microphone. Quote
