Apple Samsung iPhone 5 Patent Lawsuit

Rumors that Samsung (005930) had plans to file a fresh patent complaint against Apple (AAPL) following the launch of the new iPhone 5 have panned out. A new filing with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California confirms that Samsung is indeed preparing to file a complaint against Apple pertaining to LTE patents, which it alleges are being infringed by the iPhone 5. FOSSPatents reports that the Samsung filing is preliminary as the company has not yet had a chance to examine the new iPhone. Once the device becomes available, the South Korea-based company will file amendments along with an official complaint. Samsung expects its new lawsuit to cover eight patents, according to the report.

it's just leverage. If samsung wins they can try to get apple to back down that 1 b. dollar judgement.

Which would be a win/win for consumers.

Not to sure about that. Although we do benefit from marketplace competition...when a monetary judgement is handed down by a court..it's usually passed on to the consumer of those products. Samsung won't be hurt either way.

This patent war is playing out pretty intrestingly though. I say Shin Jong-kyun and TIm Cook hug and throw a kegger.

Apple products are a joke anyway. For anybody that will criticize this reply just know everything off any apple product originally came from a windows product.

Oh really? Please start a new thread and tell all.
