Medic Kane Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 I wanted to play with a buddy but he has been playing on our 1.7 server. I of course lurk on our 1.6 server...I was just wondering why we run two different patch levels. I'd never realized we did before. Quote
Krayzie Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 We have two different patches because both are popular really. Some players prefer the 1.6 patch, some prefer the .1.7 patch. Unlike in ET we cannot have a "2.6b" patch that you can install to all play on the same servers. Also, if you are on a Mac, you CANNOT play on the 1.6 patch if you have downloaded CoD afterwards. 1 Quote
Medic Kane Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 Is there a way for a 1.7 user to play on a 1.6 server? They are windows vista Quote

Krayzie Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 If he has the steam based CoD have him download and install this CoD Version Selector: http://fearless-assassins.com/files/file/433-cod4-patch-selector/ Quote
Revenant Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 What's the difference between the two versions? I've played on both the 24/7 beginner, and abnerdog, but don't really notice anything different. Quote

I've played on both the 24/7 beginner, and abnerdog, but don't really notice anything different. - Fixed an exploit that allowed players to access certain console dvars during multi-player matches.- Fixed a crash that could occur when a Chinatown Sabotage match would go into over-time - Fixed a bug where the MP icons (Bomb, Defend, Capture, etc) were always showing up as English regardless of the install language.
