Correct me if I am wrong, but I think you can save your profile. Then when you re-install cod4, you can just copy/paste the profile back in there.

That's correct. If you copy out your players/profiles directory, and then copy it back in once you've created a bogus entry on the new install (so it has the right locations etc), then you will save all your stats. I've done this multiple times now. Just make sure you keep a copy of the directory somewhere safe. :)
