Hax and what to look for

Wuz up all dont know where to put this so I hope its cool here.I was wondering is there a way to show us noobs what to look for to catch someone hacking I dont know what a aimbot or wall hack looks like never used one so it would be nice to know what they are and what they look like so we can better help to keep the servers clean I have tried to download demos but alot are for COD or are older ver. ET like dm82 files and I use 2.06b so maybe some tutorials on what to watch for would be nice to see I know I would learn from them.

The little I know:

 

Assuming they are using full rage settings, you will see the crosshair snapping violently from head to head. If you see a guy plow through 5 enemies in 1-2 seconds, most likely he is hacking, and all you will hear is ding ding ding ding ding ding continously. For wallhack, you have to record a demo and watch it at a later time when you can use "set r_shownormals 1" in the console while the demo plays. You will see him tracking enemies through the walls.

 

If they are being more subtle it becomes much more difficult. Watch and see if he can shoot through dense smoke, make impossible shots etc. This kind of player is harder to catch and usually we post the demos here and let many eyes look it over. I have difficulty often unless the guy is real blatent.

I am doing that every day on jay2 because noobs in the smoke shoot their guns rapidly and I can see their muzzleflash. or have a brain and game sense and guess where they are hiding. mostly in the middle of the smoke or on the sides.

If you wanna watch if someone is cheating, then you have to first of all /follow slot number. that way you can hide any possible errors of someone knowing you are specing him.

 

Look for his movements. you aren't seeing people who dont know how to double jump or strafe getting 50% and 60% acc. that is ridiculous and very suspicious and most of the time they have a very crappy bot.

 

Look for the way he traces the walls and his targets. Some people use the lines on the walls as sensitivity practice because most of the time the line textures on the walls is at head level and its good practice to keep your crosshair on that line level. so that doesn't mean they are wallhacking when you see them aiming at head before enemy is seen. it's a common thing nowadays.

 

If the person is using a humanized bot. look for weird errors and bad settings in his hack. You can see him shooting like normal. but then he suddenly gibs the body right after he's down. he could be gibbing a body while someone is shooting at him even though the guy he killed is a soldier and the enemy that shoots at him is a engineer. (these 2 classes cant do anything from that kind of situation. soldier doesnt drop anything a medic, covie or fops want. and the engineer can't revive. so why is he gibbing?) these things can be errors in his human bot and he forgot to turn auto gib off. also look for very unhuman like tracing. it will look robotic-like to see him aiming for body, head. then legs

 

Some people lean to hide wallhack. or have a toggle to lean and turn on wallhack, this is probably the most hardest thing to catch. because they hide it so well it's crazy. so make sure if he spams lean for no reason. lets say the map is on fueldump. and he's going to the fueldepot and the axis spawn. he would lean for no reason where there is no corners or anything, this could possibly mean he toggles his wallhack to take a quick peek.

 

 

There is alot of things I could say but its fairly easy to spot someone who is blatantly cheating.

Ya. You can see the muzzle flash through the smoke as well... So their argument is pretty much null and void.

 

The first poster is accurate as well... and perhaps the most obvious signs. Some cheaters do not take the proper measures in hiding their cheats, where some users are professional about it. Learning and time are the two keys to determining cheaters from legit players.

I might add that you have to learn how to play (fairly) well first, or spec lots of good players, because if the point is about telling apart superhuman from human, you need to know what humans are able to do first

 

 

I am the lowest of the lowest on etpro (like, one day I was playing with pistol only and they said 'please... dude you suck so much, play with mp40 because pistol is not for you' and stuff like that) then maybe I play jaymod with some fake name, and some beginner (because I am not good enough to make normal players cry) occasionally accuses me of hack. That means they have no clue about what skill is, if I am not even close to skilled and they accuse me.

 

So I suggest you to spec or watch demos of both busted players who obviously cheated, and very good players you trust (lan proofed, or anything)

Don't try cheats yourself because you will get banned, and it's not even necessary, there are plenty of videos and demos and technical infos about how they work, if you look around.

 

 

p.s.

dm_82 files can be renamed to dm_84 if you want to watch them with the latest patch

Thank all of you now I have some place to start I have seen alot of the things you guys are talking about on silent1 and n!tmod early in the morning but I really cant tell what im looking at and I dont want to accuse someone without knowing what im looking at also I didnt know you can rename dm_82 to 84 thats very helpful thanks guys now I am off to watch some vids.

 

P.S. Thank you Mccloud and Parrot your posts are what I was looking for I need some explanation/info so i can tell what im looking at when watching the vids thanx again great posts.

 

Also one more question about different hacks is it ok to skywalk dont know how else to describe it on some n!tmod maps you can somehow glitch up into the sky and rain down bullets i have seen this a couple of times and was wondering if that is allowed or not thanx

uhu, pretty sure all have secret room (although on hotchkiss I can't get the code right XD), daybreak has one for sure.

Aimbot: Imo I look for linear movements . Some good players play with low Y sens and keep crosshair at Head Y tough but then if you see a perfectly linear diagonal path atraight to an enemy this is fishy( doesn't need to be at the aim since most humanized aimbots gets a few shots @body before going ding ding. You might want to see demo @0.1 speed so you can see tragectory .You may also look at aim through covie smoke.also, if the player is having crappy reaction time( needs 3 sec to react but then goes ding ding) , or play like a total noob , moves slowly , cycle his entire inventory to revive but destroys everyone this is impossible.

For wallhack you mostly need experience because alot of players anticipate enemy movements and shoot through smoke or trees , prefires at spawn , throw succefull nades at spawn etc. Someone is fishy when he anticipates an unusual enemy movements or directly track an enemy through wall. Sorry for spelling mistakes my iphone screen is destroyed lol.

I am not even sure he cheats from that video, maybe at 1:06 and 1:20 and maybe not

 

if you really have to make a video instead of posting a demo, at least disable bob, I was getting seasick (and crosshair pulse off + a smaller xhair would be nice as well)

Well. I'm sure He was cheating, But etpub bans only GUID. I wanted to PB banmask IP, But no longer have rcon.

I was hoping that server admin would do that, So I sent PM and posted video.

This Is only an example of what to look for in cheater, Not a cheat complaint.

I still have the ET demo. I posted video at My clan's website.

You can see that At 1:15 aim goes right to next head, That Is what to look for.

No one Is that good, Never missing a headshot.

I hesitate to ban anyone because there are so many good players.

If You suspect a cheater, Don't global chat It.

PM admin and make ET demo.
