Help please?

Hi all,

 

Yesterday, for some reason, I wasn´t able to join any FA servers, except for one, FA hardcore.

 

The error I get is that I have an invalid guid?!?!

 

What could´ve happened?

 

Anyone have any ideas?

 

What can be done to fix it?

 

I had my levels reset due to another issue, about a month ago. everything was fine :-(

Do you have your punkbuster enabled if not enable it and try again.

Yes, thank you Moazer. I checked that first.

 

I have it enabled in my autoexec and I also enabled it with pb_cl_enable , just in case. still can´t get in.

What does /cl_guid show? obviously dont post your GUID here but does it show it?

 

It should say:

 

current: "your32characterGUIDhere"; default "unknown";

 

but if it says:

 

current: "unknown"; default: "unknown";

 

...then your etkey file is missing, or pb isn't enabled despite it being in your config - you might need to enable PB on each mod, to overwrite the auto-config generated in each mod.. To do this, you load ET, go to 'Mods' in the main menu, and load Jaymod for example.. ET will restart, then you need to do /pb_cl_enable; and /cl_guid should then show your GUID.

open notepad , write pb_cl_enable save as autoexec.cfg and put in etmain folder

Chuck, seems like that didn´t fix it. strange t hough how the hardcore server seems fine still.

 

should i do the new et key thing you created?

 

how could this happen all of a sudden?

 

could it be because i tried out k-lista´s cfg the other day?

Hmm Even without etkey or guid pb is off on jay servers so you shouldn't get kicked .

You should try a new etkey (using chucks generator) but don't forget to save your old one.

PS: you don't get kicked from HC because silent mod uses silentguid which is autogenerated when you first connect on the server.

When I tried to connect to a different server, not FA, that I have visited in the past, It let me connect, was in for 5 seconds, then kicked and saw this

 

server disconnected - disconnected

 

duplicate guid for client 8

 

 

Could the original download of my ET have something to do with it? Does it matter where you get the game form? What about if I uninstalled before and used Revo Uninstaller to remove all traces of it?

 

Then I re-installed. This was all maybe 6 months ago.

weird thing , if I was you I would delete etkey , make sure cl_guid is gone and get a new one.
