So i just want to ask do you use opera and why ?

Long time i was only using only IE. After my system was crashed and messed up with a Virus/Trojan attack had to setted up a new system. (NO i did not :porn !!!)

I remembered that i was using Opera some years before and installed opera (version 11), also i Installed IE and Firefox.

After a short testing phase i decided to run only opera as Browser and i have to say i am happy with this decision.

its fast, uncomplicated and user Friendly, there are many extensions available.

Also there is Opera Turbo which is nice if i go via tethering to inet.

atm i have on this PC the following extensions:

Facebook Add cleaner

Ghostery

NetTools

Gismeteo

SaveFrom.net helper

Maps

on my other pc i have some more extensions but they are not in my mind atm

So i am just inquisitive who is also using Opera, and what extensions do you use ?

Only use the mobile version on my tablet (superior to default and firefox, chrome beta looks promising => but I don't like chrome at all :P)

Anyway when I decided to change from browser (years ago => can't remember using IE on a regular base: only used to download another browser ^^).

I tested a bunch of browsers, I liked opera (still got it installed for webproject : school based stuff ^^) but prefered Firefox.

add-ons installed:

-ghostery

-ad-block plus with custom rules : I only block the really annoying ads: full background, flashy banners,... (=> Website also have to be payed)

-Stylish : to put some of the really white sites (like google) to a black theme

-English, French, Dutch (default) dictionary (=> super handy when having laptop exams => we are allowed to use it, checked it first ^^)

Used to use Opera, only because it looked nice.

For me, a browser has to be fast, if it can't keep up with my tempo, I'm done with the browser.

Opera is quite a fast browser, but there are faster browsers (for example Chrome, althought it often "phones home").

You can check a browser benchmark here: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/hardware/the-big-browser-benchmark-chrome-15-vs-opera-11-vs-ie9-vs-firefox-8-vs-safari-5/16041?tag=content;siu-container

old benchmarks :P

firefox is @ 13 and chrome probably somewhere near 10.000 (firefox 13 changed some stuff ^^ => they copied that new tab screen thingy you also have in chrome with you most viewed pages or something)

I've been using Opera for 2 years or so, I never went back to IE after using it. I used Firefox for a short time but never really got into it. Google chrome is pretty good to, its my secondary browser.

Opera's basicly the best for me

For many ppl speed is such a big a thing. Sure it should be fast, but one should bear in mind, we speak about the second range and below :) I cant complain about the speed Opera is fast enough for me.

If you know the Browsers and the interconnection from ~15+ Years before you know what is slow and fast :)

I have to agree.

think it's good if you can customize everything as you want

No I don't, and maybe therefore I think Opera isn't fast enough.

And I never use extensions or customize a browser, I only use them to browse the internet and to debug.

PS: I don't think it's a good thing that you can customize everything, unexperienced users can do alot wrong with that.

Well, about customize everything => win

True that the unexperienced user can mess things up, but as a more experienced user , I don't want to be hold back by those users. The responsibility of messing things up should lie with the users, not the company. As long the company makes a solid everyday usable solution which CAN be altered to you will. Heck why not, if you mess it up => too bad for you.

Same goes with everything: google play with the option to install apps from another 'more shady' place vs apples appstore (and the store from windows too I thought) which don't allow you to install apps not listed in the store.

I just like to keep control over my stuff :P

I see you like control over your stuff, therefore you code in Java? Haha, nono :D

I too like to have control over stuff I use, and I also don't want to be hold back by users who are less experienced.

But, yes you read it right, there's a but, there are so many stories about unexperienced users who mess things up because they dig too deep.

And the first thing those users do, is calling somebody that knows something about computers to come and fix it. And mostly they even expect I do it for free.

Therefore I say: please people, stop using things you do not understand.

Well, I decided to give opera a go (firefox 13 is a bit bugge here => flash not working / embedded stuff not working like it should)

Couple remarks with what you maybe can help:

-Can you hide the panel bar on the left => just waste of space to show it all the time

Never mind, just realized I only have to press F4 to hide it ^^

-Can you remove the RSS button in the adress bar? => annoys me like hell.
