My daughter plays on my laptop running linux mint 11. Make sure you get a 32 bit distro, I had no end of trouble trying to get ET running on 64 bit ubuntu. (I hated unity anyway)

Other than that, I had no issues.

Never tried it on a 64 bit distro, but on 32bit it runs fine and as fast as on windows, if not smoother

the only problems I can mention are:

1. you can't play on servers with tzac

2. there is no minimizer, actually there is one but it doesn't work if you use in_dgamouse 2

Thanks for the heads up on the 32/64bit issue.

Im currently waiting for the postal to deliver my new computer !

you can alt + enter, and then open the console to get out of the application.

I know, but it takes time, it's like a /vid_Restart, if compared to Windows et minimizer it's rather annoying.

I tried etswitch, but it doesn't work with /in_dgamouse 2

I tried to open et in a new X server and it's ok, but if I switch to my main X server ET goes 999. So if I stay in the other X server for too long I get kicked for 999 ping.

Weird, because for instance if I listen to some music, and then I switch to ET, the music keeps playing. I thought the game should run in the background even in another X server :( I'm probably too noob to figure out why

yes, that is right... it is bloody slow if you are doing this all the time... but I dont like to play with full screen. I usually play with it windowed. My laptop monitor is big enough that I am not missing much with a smaller game window.

Just to mention, but you can remove unity (hated it too, removed it)

And, you can play ET on a 64bit distro just fine, on Ubuntu anyhow.
