Funksdead Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Is it possible to direct xfire to work on 1.6 and 1.7 versions on a dual install. I can not use patch selector, I have tried numerous times and it fails for me. I have xfire pointed to my 1.6. I can have it running while on 1.7 but I have to minimize game to receive messages and that is awful. looking for a way to get both versions to work in game. I think someone has xfire name of one of the xfire developers, if you have that maybe I can chat with him. Quote
Chuckun Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 You COULD make two installs of xfire, one pointing to 1.6, one pointing to 1.7, and have two desktop icons stating which is which.. But obviously that sucks This guy is president of the xfire team: http://fearless-assassins.com/user/8557-mark-donovan/ and his xfire is megalodono Quote
Wizbang Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 I have to change where the xfire points to manually when I switch from 1.7 to 1.6. It takes a minute or two before I start playing but it will work for both installs. Quote
rolf Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 (edited) I have to change where the xfire points to manually when I switch from 1.7 to 1.6. It takes a minute or two before I start playing but it will work for both installs. If that's the only way, it should be possible to make a small script to do that automatically. I just checked a few minutes, and that seems to be working. With one small exception, I'm not sure if you'd have to restart xfire for that (and I can't check since I've only installed cod4 once ) I can look into it later if that's appreciated Edited April 10, 2012 by rolf 1 Quote
Wizbang Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 I believe xfire will have to make something showing both patches in the games section or give us some rights to override defaults. Quote
