brynne Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 TALLINN -- Estonia's national football team has advanced to the next stage of the European Championships, where they stand a chance to make their first-ever appearance at the final championships. Estonia finished second in their group, which was topped by undefeated Italy. In third place was Serbia, followed by Slovenia, Northern Ireland and the Faroe Islands. Estonia's second place finish and European Championships qualification was secured Tuesday when Slovenia defeated Serbia to keep the Balkan team in third place. Only the top two teams move on. Estonia's final game in pool play came Friday, when they defeated Northern Ireland 2-1 in an intense match. Next month the eight teams that placed second in their groups will play to determine which four move on to the Euro 2012 championship in Poland and Ukraine next summer. http://www.jalgpall.ee/images/news/89883be4e95e7f271e957b7f90dd8dfd Estonia now stands a chance at a historic appearance at the European Championships finals. Nordwolf Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Good job, Serbia and Slovenia are strong teams Belgium didn't qualify I was talking about that on NQ yesterday They finally have some talent, but if you're tieing Austria 4-4 at home and Azerbeijan 1-1 at home, then you're not ready for the next stage. However it would've been nice. Go Germany and Holland! Quote
Spitfire Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Never been so thankful to slovenians 2 Quote
Panini*Hobbit@mp3 Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 I hope Ireland get Estonia in the playoff.. No offense but out of the 4 unseeded teams, Estonia are the one team you'd love to play. Montenegro and Bosnia are both underdogs capable of performing on their day and as you can see, they got this far already Not sure about Turkey.. last time I watched a match of them was against England and that match was hilarious!
