Clan Friend SunLight Posted August 7, 2011 Clan Friend Posted August 7, 2011 I cant learn this trick, those guys are talented! haha I think that in order to learn to jump properly, you should train in some gammajump map, that way if you do it bad you fall, and you have to start again. If there is no penalty for mistakes learning is harder imho. That's the reason why, for example, in most games they always suggest to play vs (slightly) better players, since when you make a mistake you will realize it is a mistake... otherwise you will keep doing it. And now there is tjmod around, when I learned to gamma I did it on etpro so when I watched other players I didn't know how they did what they did, which keys they used, etc. I remember when I wasn't even able to do the 3rd gamma in mrmen gamma, and I even thought that it was a pro jump Needless to say, you need *a lot* of practice, especially when you have to figure out all by yourself, as it happened to me back then... and follow Daredevil's advice! No pain no gain... Anyway, if you keep playing you will improve soon. You just need to learn all these things that aren't so obvious at first, for example I often see many players who keep jumping like grasshoppers, but since they don't strafejump they don't get any speed. Sometimes I laugh, but they obviously don't know that they have to use those keys because nobody told them, and maybe they didn't even ask... Quote

Achiyan Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 yeah man, i remember when i couldnt TJ at all lol. but that was before i realized what it was. i started off playin ET with a xbox 360 controller cuz i had a laptop with a touchpad mouse i actually got recruited into F|A using that controller so i wasnt a terrible player. but since then i built my own pc and start with the mouse and key. right now im only getting th ebasics of TJing. like on double jump servers i can gain tons of speed but its snail crawl compared to other players. and on single jump servers.....nah, i might get lucky on like a jump or two. i cant keep it up. but im still getting better. good luck Quote

You can't make a script, it would be overcomplicated for such an easy thing. As I've said, anyone can hold w+a or w+d, the hard part is mouse movement, and you can't put that in a config, because the speed is not constant and not fixed. +left / right and cl_yawspeed, won't do the trick, and btw it's lame and also forbidden) So, you still keep talking about configs, it's a skill, not something you can just script. Try to learn it, it's not so hard. (Even though I would suggest to concentrate more on shooting skills first) If you really want to learn how to do it, you can watch some gammajump videos... notice how he always skips the middle zone, which gets bigger and bigger as he gains speed... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=207aZ44AIRY Quote

Heh, I did also try it on somewhere 2004 when friends did do that a lot. I did try and just poor failing alltime I did give up on that, and just continued playing without tj. When something boosts you at your back like a mortar exploding, by luck I was jumping super fast and I cant even control it, I felt good. 3. When on downhill, speed is present and I was attaining TJ atleast 3 times out of 5, this was funny. 4. My shooting skill sucks, maybe the keyboard, mouse and the player LOL Quote
