Impossible list to compile. Much like the VH1 Classic countdowns, everyone can think of better ones. And it does look like a pre 90's list.

 

Joe Walsh has about 40 songs that are awesome.

 

Richie Sambora from Bon Jovi.... Check out some of the obscure songs like Raise Your Hands, Keep the Faith, Homebound Train, etc. Have amazing technical parts.

 

SRV- Texas Flood..... 'nuff said.

 

Ace Frehley- Some great stuff that made Kiss big.

 

Satriani, Kenny Shepherd, Zack, guy from Pearl Jam, James Root, Dimebag, Wes from Bizkit, Mick Mars....

It's very hard to compare solo's to eachother, partly because solo's shouldn't be regarded as seperate things but as part of song. However, I wouldn't put Stairway to Heaven on one, I'd say: Comfortably Numb, or Crazy Train.

I like many if not most of those songs and have even heard 10 or so of them performed live by the original artists but there is 1 that will never make anyone's list that I really like. Its called "Battle Axe" by the band Quit Riot. They were started by one of the most wicked bad-ass son-of-a-b*** to ever pick up a guitar...........Randy Rhoads! Maybe you have heard of him--if you haven't then stop reading this and go do some research. Unfortunately Rhoads wasn't with the band at the time of this recording. He has moved on to greener pastures---OZZY!

 

Anyway.., the whole song is a guitar solo and it rocks.
