Chuckun Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Yahoo look to one-up Google! Yahoo announce the 'future of search' Yahoo is looking to take on Google and its own partner Bing, offering a new search facility they say is the "fastest thing you have ever seen." Yahoo call this new search face "Search Direct" which combines the commonly seen live / instant search which displays results as you type, with direct results from 15 different databases such as stock quotes, local results, news articles, weather information, shopping, music, movies, sport, celebrities and more. Yahoo appeared to have abandoned ship in the search engine business when they allowed Microsoft to use the backbone of their search engine for the now existant Bing!. However, with the announcement of this new Search Direct idea, they say that this is definitely the future of search. "I want you to remember three words: 'answers, not links,'". These are the words of Shashi Seth, Yahoo's vice president; expressing the impressive nature of this new system. You can already try out Search Direct at http://search.yahoo.com/ but it is not the default processor for the homepage search just yet. However Sashi Seth has confirmed that soon it will be covering all Yahoo! search boxes. It seems Yahoo are indeed making a comeback in the search game. I wonder what Google will see fit to do, to top this effort.. Source: =F|A=Chuckun @ fearless-assassins.com Quote
Chuckun Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 Me too lol.. never used it, and all I've known of it is their very vulnerable webmail client causing major spam n shit.. Interesting that they're trying to make a comeback after meeting what seemed to be their end.. Quote
TheDuck Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 The biggest problem I have with yahoo, besides the enormous amount of spam mail, is all the bullshit they load up with commercials and popups. I have switched over to chrome, and use google now for everything. My yahoo account is now just for bullshit sites. Quote
