LA VITA È BELLA (english title: Life is Beautiful)

 

was shown at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival, and went on to win the Grand Prize of the Jury.[1] At the 71st Academy Awards, the film won awards for Best Music, Original Dramatic Score, and Best Foreign Language Film, with Benigni winning Best Actor for his role. The film also received Academy Award nominations for Directing, Film Editing, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Picture.

story:

Guido Orefice (Benigni) wants to open a bookstore in a city in tuskany (region in central italy, near Florence), he meets the love of his live Dora (Nicoletta Braschi, who is his wife also in real live), they marry and have a kid named Giosuѐ....in the second part of the movie world war II has already begun, because he is jewish, benigni and his son were taken to a concentration camp, where he hides his son and telling him this is just a game, every time his son is near him, he also has to akt like its a game, so he needs a lot of immagination to do that

Nice film, but I found the main character sometimes annoying. Especially in that "best scene" of above.

 

 

There are better films, but this is indeed a beautiful movie.

My favorite movie INDEED!! Benigni deserved that award. He totally was amazing in his role! So moving and touching film!

If you haven't watched it yet, you'd better!!! :D

I used to have "la vita e bella" as a nickname on ET for months after watching this movie :P
