Achiyan Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 as you all know, i have a 2000 Impala LS and with the factory 5 spoke alloy rims. i believe the alloy is a mix of alluminum(?). in the pics you can see that i have "worming" (as i call it) goin on. it seems to be under the glossy finish on the rims but that clear coting is starting to peel also. anyone know of a way to clean/remove this or how to recoat? just for kicks...my car is in great shape. the rims, breaks (rusting), and headlights (yellowing) are the only faults...i wanna be clean Quote
Chuckun Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 You could try using carburettor cleaner (aka Carb Cleaner) on it (thats what I used to shine mine up) - it's meant for de-choking carburettors so it's really good stuff, should cost around $7 a tin (aerosol) at a rough conversion of what it costs here But like I said, I can't guarantee its effectiveness for you, as I was only cleaning mine up, but if money isn't an issue give it a try - it's powerful (and quite harmless) stuff Quote
Funksdead Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 If it is under the clearcoat, which it sounds like. There is no way to get rid of that other than having them stripped and re cleared. A local body shop should be able to do it no problem. DUH !!I just looked at the pics...read above....that is not coming off Quote
