ET SILENT #1 Any Possible Way to have AI create ET Maps?

Recommended Posts

Very nooby question - but is there a way that any of the AI platforms could create ET maps? Even if they had to be polished up in gtkradiant I feel like that should be a huge deal for new maps in the game.

Any ideas?

Tagging RNGesus because he's the techiest guy I know 😄

no.... without explaining it in depth   no . general ai cannot understand . the map format cant be done from a text prompt.

AI Overview

General AI cannot directly generate a playable map file (.map or .bsp) for Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory from a simple text prompt.

Have you tested this? I would be impressed if it natively understood radiant ect as it’s unlikely training data for it was gathered as most resources have sadly started to be only available on waybackmachine for mapping.

there is Netradiant nowadays, as a modern alternativ to GTKRadiant. https://netradiant.gitlab.io/

my own two cents for what it´s worth:

surely AI will help easily with assitance if one comes from the scratch and doesn´t know how maps are build in ID3 Engine and such.

But AI will never replace the creativity of a human. It does what you prompt it to do. @ogeazy

with netradiant and a bit of creativity, it shouldnt be a problem for yourself!

we have some good mappers in the clan and outside of it, too.

if anyone needs help, its best to contact drempa, tomek, buckwild, etc. alternatively, or try to find help in the ETLegacy Discord, there are always a bunch of good mappers willing to help.

but as with anything else in life, someone just has to tackle it, and then it’ll work itself out. or not. worst thing that can happen is just no map.

Nope I will tomorrow though now that I am curious enough. I cannot imagine why it can't.

Why wouldn't it? All the documentation is available all it will do is read it. I know it won't be fully playable or anything of the sort just off of one prompt but as most things why can't it create a starting point?

from my understanding .it cant create brushes, entities and scripts needed.

it can however help with textures and artwork.  it also can not do bot waypoints.

Netrad or Trenchbroom. I’ve messed around with both and Trenchbroom seems much more user friendly
