ET Server Suggestion Reduce player cap on Jay 1

So as you guys see on the title, I just wish there were less slots on this server, mainly because 60 players makes the whole server lag horribly. Also, not to forget that map progression for the attackers gets almost impossible. So one might think that doing so could "kill" the server, but I believe it is also an opportunity for other less played servers to be brought back to life, like Jay 2 for instance. I don't remember if when the server gets full, the game automaticly redirect players to Jay 2 or not but if this hasn't been done yet, well it could potentially be implemented. For the player cap, I believe 50 seems most reasonable and if any players try to connect to the server past the max player cap, the rest gets redirected on Jay 2.

It does redirect to Jay 2, but players just won't play there, sadly. It's my favorite server. They just hit /reconnect until they can connect to Jay 1. I am with you, though, on lowering slots

an why dont they play there.  i think its cuz no ones there and  to many bawts but . im just crazy for thinking that .lol i used to jump on with in a map or two it be 5v5 6v6 . now if we are lucky its 2v2 3v3 .. another thing is alot who do join jay2 just go flamer or panzer and camp spawns.to kill bawts so lame.there could be a few things implemented to make jay2 just a little better like it used to be.

What was the main factor that made people join Jay 2 in the first place ?

We just had more players in general playing. I used to play in Jay2 years ago but the population just slowly left.

I don’t think reducing player cap would help. I think it would hurt more than anything tbh. I feel like many of the players continue to stay with jay1 because of the chaos. I’ve noticed that if player count is like 30-40 it kind of lingers there. However, soon as it hits like 45 it shoots right up to a full server. That’s why I think that. 
 

also, lowering the count and redirecting is just going to  bring someone to jay2. Which sounds fantastic sure. 
 

but what if they don’t care for jay2 plus all they’re going to do is try jay1 again soon as that map ends. 
 

we’ve tried this several times between the hardcore and S1 server. Just simply cannot do both. It’s just one or the other I’m afraid. :(

So there's nothing that can be done ?

I wouldn't say nothing could be done. Far from that! I am just saying I don't think reducing the player count will do it. 

 

I am sure there is something floating around though that could certainly work and bring more life to ET. Just need to keep the suggestions rolling who knows maybe your idea could trigger another idea to either you or someone else reading and could engineer up an amazing idea that could be worth shooting the shot. So, no idea is a bad idea. I do also like your idea of reducing player count myself. I would love some good solid games of 12v12 or even 15v15 on jaymod. I personally play on our silent server mainly because of this reason, 38 player count. But that is a different mod. 

 

Bottom line is the player base just doesn't really support the demand very well. While we are totally open to new ideas we just need to consider the benefit and the work behind whom ever has to be the one to put it all together. Sadly :( I miss the 2003-2005 days of ET 💔
