Don't worry, i read this topic and i thought that would be a fun experiment to debate about that idea. But the reality is I played on FA server for a long time and almost nothing change about that kind of stuff. Ppl have complaint about poison knives, panzer, mortar for a very long time and nothing ever change. That's the first time I notice the complaint about the rnade (sure there was complaints before, but compare to the poison/panzer/mortar, it's nothing). So I thought that would be fun to debate my idea. But that's not a problem at all. I changed my gameplay a long time ago to fit with the setting of the server. I help less my team, I still help alot, but I think of my fun first, for example I played less engi/medic to play more cvop, it's not optimal to help the team, but it's increase my fun.

Aniway, if you didn't find fun debate about it, it's totally ok. And again don't worry, the only thing that can be change on FA server are the map rotation. And that's fine.

I think a way to solve the rnade problem is to buff the engineer class. I explain. The engi is the most valuable class in ET, but it's the most vulnerable class. We could add adren just for the engineer. That would nerf the rnade spam (you have to choose between adren and using your powerful rnade, so a tactical choice) and that would make more attractive to use the smg as an engi. Now in my opinion, we should change some of the engineer ability too, like for example the dyno. I don't know the current setting, but I'm supposing that the engi can drop a dyno with 60% of his energy bar. If we go with adren, let's change it for 80% (or something like that).

Sure, there will be new problem by doing this change, every action has consequence. Here my pros & cons to this change :

Pros :
-A way to help the engineer class survive when they are bully by a more rambo class.

-A more tactical choice (do you use your adren or use the rnade, or adren or planting dyno, ect).

-Less spaming rnade, since there is an other option and you can more easily break that rnade/nade barrage with the adren. And so that's make the barrage more useless.

 

Cons :
-The creation of a new class, the rambo engi! Where the enemy team, risk to have to fight an army of rambo engi and have to respond with their own rambo engi... That could be fun... or less fun. (let's put it as a con).
-For certain map like oil kombinat, it would be very hard to break the dyno defense set by allies with an adren engi.

-Some engi stopping playing the objective because it's more fun to frag with adren.

-Admin forced for the next 6 months to repeat in the chat, twice each map, that the engineer is not cheating.

 

I'm sure I'm forgetting pros & cons. And I'm sure, to make this possible, we have to nerf other abilities for the engineer, like repairing stuff. But that's my suggestion.

Basically this is the current situation on Beginners #2, and I play as a "Rambo Engineer" 95% of the time. But it's necessary sometimes to be able to get in there to plant a dynamite at the barrier. I have to kill 2 rambo medics minimum from spawn to reaching the objective. I don't know anyone who uses the engineer class purely to frag, you're still dependand on a medic to heal you.

Hi @Snake in the Grass .

As feedback on what you said about mine density, I completely agree (being an engineer) because there are maps where they place many accumulated gas landmines, and when they are activated (several at the same time), it causes a very noticeable lag on the server.

This would be due to a performance issue as well as the efficiency of using the mines.

This is a horrible way to perceive Jay1. Who's #2 for Jaymod servers? Does anyone really know? Does it even matter if nobody plays there?

Players are always going to flock to servers that have real players on them. This is a very old game, and F|A should feel fortunate that players chose their server to be the last remaining Jay1 server to play on. Many other clans/communities weren't as fortunate. Touting that a server is ranked #1 in a list of 1 is just silly, especially if you're using that as your rational for not trying to improve it.

What was changed? Were the changes what caused people to flee? Is there a forum discussion you could link backing this up? If it was the changes that caused this, did they not revert them back? I'm not calling you liar, but causation doesn't necessarily equal correlation. There are a lot of similar - yet empty -ET servers to Jay1 that didn't change a thing, yet bam, nothing but crickets.

The whole point of this topic to discuss potential changes in a "thought out and logical way". If changes were made irresponsibly on Jay2, don't let that deter you from wanting to improve the experience on Jay1. 

I would love if we could mirror Jay2 to Jay1, but implement changes that may alleviate some of the main issues that players have. Most of the changes I've presented are subtle, or should be implemented subtly. Jay2 is always empty, and I don't see posts for trying to improve it, so is there anything to lose in doing so?
