Leader Popular Post RedBaird Posted November 15 Leader Popular Post Posted November 15 (edited) @daredevil moved a number of USA-located ET, INS and DOI servers to a new machine last Tuesday, the 13th of November.  He set up the new Domain Name Server IPs on Wednesday, the 14th. They are all running good today, Thursday. 😄    He actually copied the server software and records from the old machine to the new one. The old servers will continue running until the machine lease is up, in a few days. The old servers may still show up in ET Browsers until then.  You should use the Domain Names to connect to the changed servers. I always use this method because while those names never change, but the IPs do sometimes.   Jay#2    /connect jay2.clan-fa.com Silent#1  /connect silent1.clan-fa.com NQ#2   /connect NQ2.clan-fa.com  In the 2.6b and the ETL Server Browsers, you may see duplicate FA names for some servers. The same-named servers often show different maps running, BUT both twins show the same population! That will make it hard for players to join the "new server" instead of the old one.  Here is a copy of the old and new IPs for the affected servers, from Daredevil  Quote             old            new Jay2   = 108.61.21.94  -> 172.93.107.57 Silent1 = 108.61.21.93  -> 172.93.107.70 NQ2   = 108.61.21.92  -> 104.243.42.89  INS and DOI -> 104.243.42.89   Below is an image of 'duplicate servers' captured by @madjimmie some 6 hours ago. The Silent#1 and "#2 XPSAVE" (Jay#2) "twins" show the same names, number of players and pings, but different maps.  That 'same number of players' will be a problem for some joiners.    This will all get back to normal when the old machine's lease expires, and the old servers disappear from the browsers.    Edited November 15 by RedBaird quote spacing, show INS & DOI show up quickly 7 7 Quote

Drempa Posted November 15 Posted November 15 maybe add to new servers "NEW" or old "OLD"? 😄 1 1 Quote
madjimmie Posted November 15 Posted November 15 I took it fairly late last night, so there wasn't more than the standard amount of bots/users on, which explains the same amount, because during the day they will show different amounts and that's actually how I decided which server to join 😄 thanks for all of the good work you guys are awesome, migrating hosts is always a pain, but seems to have gone fairly painlessly! 3 1 Quote
Administrators daredevil Posted November 15 Administrators Posted November 15 We had old IP's since 2010.... can't believe, how time passes so far. Machine got upgrade 2x during tenure.  Host finally moved to pro cloud and asked us 80% price hike. So had to move with new datacenter with similar features and 5% hike in price. I hope latency remains good as we have now. If not, we will be in for roller coaster ride.  Worst case scenario, I will move both Jay2 and Silent1 on US Jay1 machine and then figure something out for INS and DOI team. 4 1 4 Quote
Leader RedBaird Posted November 16 Author Leader Posted November 16 The old servers' IPs do not connect to the old servers now. They seem to be de-activated. Trying to join them by the Old IPs gets a 'waiting connection'.  TBS does not show duplicate server names now.   It looks like almost all is back to normal now. The clan still has to do a little more "cleanup".   Most importantly, players won't find themselves on the 'wrong servers' now. 😄    2 1 Quote
