Distorted graphics

Hi! I recently switch laptops and copy paste my files from last to new laptops Not sure if a demo would have shown it so I took a video attached. When moving, the graphics kind of bug, like an old television.

Anyone ever had this kind of issue?

most probably, I had the old one for 10 years. I am defintely not a tech guy so unsure how to look at this.

Try seta r_displayRefresh "xxx" to match your screen max refresh rate and also seta com_maxfps "xxx" for the fps in your cfg. If all is updated, this MIGHT help a bit.

Hi, since I can't watch your video because of unsupported plug-ins, but from the description of the problem I think that
if it were my problem I would first check if the CPU has an integrated video card and if it was using that I would look for

1) if possible a driver update from the manufacturer for the CHIPSET (assuming that there is limited management of the PCI BUS).
Windows is good with its compatible drivers but not always and not on everything they are then performing

2) and as Rendel suggests, write the classic lines in cfg:
r_mode "-1"
r_customheight "xxxx"
r_customwidth "xxxx"
r_displayrefresh "xxx"

I play only ET, only game I have. From what I saw, it might be a resolution thing. When I play on a different resolution, which is not optimized for my monitor, i dont see the glitches but with widescreen its when the issue comes back again. Still trying few things.

It's because I'm DjuDOSing you. Sorry!

For real though, I hope it gets fixed soon man!

Seems like screen tearing to me.

Can you share your laptops settings, resolution and hz, and your ET settings for the same(resolution and hz).

Also, more of a fps deal, but what is your battery settings on your laptop set to?
Are you using the laptop monitor or an external monitor connected to your laptop?

Hey Moses,

Again, I am not a IT expert so not sure exactly what information to provide. I use "high performance" for ma battery setting and the issue is on my external monitor as well as if I play directly on the laptopscreen.

Resolution I use on the external screen is 2560x1440 and it is set as 72 hz

My screen setting has a refresh rate of 144, but the laptop itself as it set as 72hz.

Here is whats in my config

seta r_displayRefresh "75" unsafe

seta com_maxfps "76"

seta r_customwidth "1600"
seta r_customheight "1024"

seta r_mode "8" unsafe

Not sure what all of that means but I copy paste my whole folder from the old laptop.

Imma chime in so I can follow along as well.

here is my thought:

It’s probably better to use the laptops rate

r_displayrefresh 72

com_maxfps 72

though the external screen is higher it’s still being powered by the laptop. (I could be wrong again mainly chiming in cuz I’m kinda curious myself) 😄

however, one thing I do see that seems off is you mention your screen is 2560x1440 but your using on your config 1600x1024 🤔

personally myself since I use idk off top of my head but it’s like 3160x2640 or something ridiculous, in game I just cycled through resolutions until I found one that fits my screen and doesn’t look too weird. So I wonder if maybe you do the same? Heh

Hi there!!
try this in the cfg :

seta r_mode                          -1
seta r_customaspect             1
seta r_customwidth              1920          //first use these values than try with your actual screen resolution both here
seta r_customheight             1080         //and here
seta r_aspectratio                 1
seta r_fullscreen                   1

seta r_displayRefresh            144

seta com_maxfps                 125 // can also try 250

NOTE: since you have 2 monitors (laptop and external one) make sure the external one is running with the 144 refresh -> right click on Desktop (on the laptop), monitor settings , advanced monitor settings

here you should have a dropdown list , set to the external monitor, hop ingame on the external monitor and see if it changes the value

the other native resolution should be

r_mode 10 Resolution is 2048 x 1536

see if it works with the custom ones first then in case try with

seta r_mode                          10
seta r_customaspect             0
