Magic fps values change the physics of movement and hit reg. I used 333 back in the day, but the best people I knew still used 125. I imagine it was originally set to level the playing field back when 333 was harder to achieve back when we were rocking 6-7 series NVIDIA cards in the 2000's. Also the higher you get, the better connection/ping you need to the server to avoid the connection interrupted so it could be there to eliminate potential issues. Related but unrelated.... When the silent servers were first setup they allowed p_move 1 to be enabled. You can see me running around back in 2008 illustrating this bug with almost invincibility. My hit reg was bad but it was significantly worse for anyone trying to shoot me (1:20 in vs zlo and unknown. Ignore the 60 fps as that's what Fraps free version forced back in the day. Just one of these quirks with the engine. Edited September 3 by TulsaGeoff Quote

In modern times most FA servers have g_fixedphysics 1 and g_fixedfps 125 enabled. So the the jump hight is the same, no matter whats your com_maxfps. 71 fps still reduces recoil tho. I saw a post of yours stating this on the server side when looking for examples of this coming in the past. You are right. Just tested this and there wasn't a big difference with moving except at 250, vs 71, I miss a lot more space bar hits. Moving mine back to 166 fps to match my refresh .
