Help Can't join the server

Hi everyone,

 

I have been trying to connect to the server(s) multiple times, however it always tell me the followings: download failure while getting: http:\\redirect.dediserverhosting.com\silent\zz_silent90-0.7b.pk3
Also tell me that other 3 pk3s are missing. I have deleted those files, nothing. I have reinstalled from Steam, from ETLegacy, from the official website, always the same issue.

 

What can I do?

 

I am a player from 2005's era, used to play this game like crazy. Would be nice to get back to it.

seta cl_wwwDownload "1"
seta cl_allowDownload "1"

Just gave it a go, but it did not solve the issue.

Ok. Then did you allow ET on your firewall?

Also try run game as admin, tho it shouldn't be needed on new versions.

Yes, double-checked it. It is allowed.

Have you tried using the 2.6b version of ET, to see?

Also do not install punkbuster as it is not needed anymore.

I have solved it! But I am unsure whether it would be a sustainable solution.

 

This is what I did:

1. I used VPN to connect to the USA

2. The game downloaded the necessary pk3 files + the map

3. I disconnected from the VPN (otherwise I would have 200+ ping)

4. Now I can play.

 

(5. however, I suspect that I will have to do this procedure every time there is a new map...)

A good way to get it sorted. You could download all the necessary maps that FA have on the servers and add them into your ET mod folders, so in future you can skip doing this method.

UPDATE

As I expected, the game will disconnect when there is a new map coming, as it cannot download it for some reason.
