I guess the most astounding thing I"ve seen is the Hale Bopp comet that went through a few years ago.  Then the Rocky Mountains, next would be the south pacific ocean (hawaii etc) then the curvature of the earth at 50,000 feet.  Of course seeing my daughter at 1 day old was up there too.

What were you doing up at 50,000 feet?

I was in Vietnam and I was in the Air Force.  So one mission we had regularly was flown at 50k feet.  You can actually see the curvature of the earth at that altitude

The moment Mt. Saint Helens exploded...I was 2 hours south and driving north.  I pulled over pretty much terrified.  Even 2 hours south it was a primal and unforgettable sight.

I was in a deer stand hunting, I just started to think to myself man I'm not going to see anything. Then I watching 2 Hawks play with a Squirrel.
