They (the Federal Reserve) created $600 billion out of thin air last month to buy back Treasury bonds since the US Federal Government is too broke to pay back the principal on the bonds they already sold. Like using one credit card to pay the minimum payment due on another credit card. That's where we are now.

Good thing $60 trillion disappeared into thin air when the credit market seized up in 2008, or we would actually have inflation from all this new money printing.

The federal government is actually in a unique position - they can print a few trillion dollars and pay down debt, like they just did with the $600 billion, and not cause much inflation.

Instead we are seeing masive deflation in the US. House prices are 2/3 of five years ago, gasoline is much cheaper, TVs and computers are half price, etc etc.

You know computer monitors and TVs will actually go up in price because it will not be overstocked after this holiday season. DDR3 ram on the other hand has been so overproducted that the value is plummeting like made (and will continue into next year).
