I found an 1898 penny behind a baseboard in a house I was renovating. It was worth $2 when I found it. And that's the only treasure I've even hunted. I always wanted a metal detector. You say you hunt as a hobby. Is it a profitable hobby? Is it expensive to get set up? What was your most valuable find? Here is a neat little Browser Add-on. Basically, Disconnect, blocks tracking requests in your browser. Advertisers, Analytics, Social networks, all of them follow you around the web tracking where you go. This add-on blocks that. I have been using this for a couple of days now. Pages are loading faster. I am a little surprised to see just how many requests to track my browsing have been blocked. This is a nice compliment to the adblock add-on I use. The company that makes Disconnect also has an add-on for search engines. Disconnect Search allows users to use search engines privately. More Info and Download Here

Fuuuuu....I saw this the other day. (and it is nothing new) I have always thought that the distribution of the worlds resources is humanity's greatest problem. Personal Fortunes totaling hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars are obscene . Corporations making more money than the governments of the countries in which they do business is obscene. As a private individual, I feel absolutely powerless to do anything to change it. It is Their Game. Their Rules. Their Playing Field. Their Equipment, Their Referees. OBSCENE!

Sorry Rastafari, I wasn't really suggesting that you had. I should have been clearer. My response was more of a response to S3ti's question. 'Instant insult keys' would be easy to make and a person might inadvertently end up with one or more through ignorance or inattention. I retrospect I suppose it does look like that was what I was suggesting happened to you. My Bad.

I got muted once because I had downloaded a config that someone recommended. I didn't check it before I installed it and connected to a server.. All of the movement keys were turned into chat binds that spammed happy faces and stuff....Plus I couldn't move. Installing an unknown config without checking it first is not a thing I will do again. I appreciate what I learned about config files by making that mistake.

Wow...Lots of info. Old news to a lot of you I am sure, but good stuff from where I stand. I am an ET player, not an ET admin. All of the server side stuff is foreign to me. I've never been in a position where any of the admin side of the game was relevant to me. The last couple of months, hanging around these forums, has opened my eyes a little. I am beginning to see just how much there is going on behind the actual game-play. I have been playing this game for years and I am still a noob. I almost feel bad that I have neglected to learn anything beyond what I needed to play. I figured there was no point learning what I was never going to use. I appreciate your time. My ETucation is ongoing.

I'm getting the feeling the whole patch thing is really unimportant. TBH, all of the questions are just sort of primers. I though maybe ET:legacy might be a better patch to use. (But then, I'm still not even sure if Legacy is a patch) There are Jaymod servers here and silEnT servers and NoQuarter servers and unless I'm mistaken there either are or will soon be Pro Mod servers If there is one mod that is better than the rest, why isn't it on all the servers?

I did a bit of digging, (not a lot, a bit), and I didn't really see any threads that discussed the pros and cons of the different ET Mods. I have been thinking about moving around on the ET servers, and it occurs to me that for the most part I really haven't played any Mod other than Jaymod. I am interested in reading other player's opinions about the different mods. Do people have favorites? If so, Why? What are some of the main differences? What are some of the subtler differences? Are some better on older machines? Is the 2.06b 2.6b patch the best for all the mods? Give it up folks...I want opinions...there ain't no wrong answers. Edit: Guess.
