Medic23 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Hi Guys Normaly i am playing very much ET but my pc is crashed. It is in repair now, but I don't know how long that will take. From the person who is trying trying to fix it, i have had a pc for loan. The first thing I did was installing ET. But after installing I find a problem. The problem is this: ****************************************************************************************************** GLW_StartOpenGL () - could not load Open GL subsystem ET 2.55 win-x86 May 27 2003 ----- FS_Startup ----- Current search path: C:\PROGRA~1\WOLFEN~1\etmain\pak0.pk3 (3725 files) C:\PROGRA~1\WOLFEN~1\etmain\mp_bin.pk3 (4 files) C:\PROGRA~1\WOLFEN~1/etmain ---------------------- 3729 files in pk3 files execing default.cfg couldn't exec language.cfg couldn't exec autoexec.cfg Hunk_Clear: reset the hunk ok ...detecting CPU, found Intel Pentium III Bypassing CD checks ----- Client Initialization ----- ----- Initializing Renderer ---- ------------------------------- ----- Client Initialization Complete ----- ----- R_Init ----- Initializing OpenGL subsystem ...initializing QGL ...calling LoadLibrary( 'C:\Windows\system32\opengl32.dll' ): succeeded ...setting mode 4: 800 600 FS ...using desktop display depth of 32 ...calling CDS: ok ...registered window class ...created window@0,0 (800x600) Initializing OpenGL driver ...getting DC: succeeded ...GLW_ChoosePFD( 32, 24, 0 ) ...35 PFDs found ...GLW_ChoosePFD failed ...GLW_ChoosePFD( 32, 24, 0 ) ...35 PFDs found ...GLW_ChoosePFD failed ...failed to find an appropriate PIXELFORMAT ...restoring display settings ...WARNING: could not set the given mode (4) ...setting mode 4: 800 600 FS ...using colorsbits of 16 ...calling CDS: ok ...created window@0,0 (800x600) Initializing OpenGL driver ...getting DC: succeeded ...GLW_ChoosePFD( 16, 16, 0 ) ...35 PFDs found ...GLW_ChoosePFD failed ...GLW_ChoosePFD( 16, 16, 0 ) ...35 PFDs found ...GLW_ChoosePFD failed ...failed to find an appropriate PIXELFORMAT ...restoring display settings ...WARNING: could not set the given mode (3) ...shutting down QGL ...unloading OpenGL DLL ...assuming '3dfxvgl' is a standalone driver ...initializing QGL ...WARNING: missing Glide installation, assuming no 3Dfx available ...shutting down QGL ----- CL_Shutdown ----- RE_Shutdown( 1 ) ----------------------- GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem ***************************************************************************************************** I have been told that it could be the graphics card, but I don't know what that means. I don't even know if I can fix this. Maybe one or some of you recognize this problem and could help find a way to solf this. You can try to give me an answer over here, or you can add me at Xfire (Medic27). Regards Medic Quote

Administrators JoeDirt Posted March 5, 2011 Administrators Posted March 5, 2011 Reinstall video card driver Quote
SkyeDarkhawk Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 More detail about the error: An error loading the OpenGL subsystem means that your computer doesn't know how to handle the OpenGL commands, usually this is caused by a lack of the latest drivers for your video card or integrated graphics chipset. Sometimes running Windows Update can resolve this issue, otherwise check what kind of video card it is, then visit the manufacturer's website for the latest driver download. It may also be that the video card or chipset does not support 3D graphics, I'm basing this assumption on the fact that the dump indicates a Pentium 3 processor... this looks like an old computer.
