In this era of massive, ongoing movie franchises, it is rare to wait 20 years for the sequel to a box office smash. But such is the case with Independence Day, the 1996 sci-fi action blockbuster in which Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum saved the Earth from invading aliens. Independence Day: Resurgence arrives in June, and a new TV spot has been released. Check it out below: While Smith isn't returning for the sequel, Goldblum is back as scientist David Levinson. In a recent interview with Slashfilm, the actor spoke about coming back on board for director Roland Emmerich and producer Dean Devlin. "They've been trying to cook something up," he said. "I think that first movie, and their fertile, colossal imaginations, suggested something further. They've spent a lot of time, and I believe come up with a very beautiful bunch of ideas." Goldblum also addressed the fact that his character has had something of a job promotion since the first movie. "Who do you think is the director of Earth Space Defense?" he asked "I don't want to toot my own horn, but yes, they made me the director. How about that? That's a big career jump. I was working for that cable company and riding a bicycle. But of course, it sort of makes sense too. Because I was an environmentalist, wasn't I, which came from a deeply organic place." Independence Day: Resurgence is set for a June 24, 2016 release. It also stars Vivica A. Fox, Bill Pulman, Maika Monroe, Liam Hemsworth, and Charlotte Gainsbourg. With Sylvester Stallone currently picking up rave reviews for his performance as an ageing Rocky Balboa in Creed, it seems like we may not have seen the last of his other famous movie character--John Rambo. It has been reported that Stallone is involved with the development of a TV show based on the Rambo series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show is to be executively produced by the star, which would focus on the relationship between Rambo and his Navy SEAL son. It is to be written by Jeb Stuart, an action movie veteran responsible for the scripts of Die Hard, The Fugitive, and the Stallone movie Lock Up. It is unconfirmed if Stallone will act in the series, although THR quote a source as saying that he won't be reprising the role. The show would follow 2008's Rambo, the fourth film in the series that begun with 1982's First Blood. Last year, there were reports that Stallone would return for a fifth movie entitled Rambo: Last Blood, but THR states that the project is now on hold. In October, it was announced that The Expendables 4, the latest part of Stallone's ensemble action series, would film next year for a 2017 release. The Simpsons has recently started its 27th season, and now stands as both the longest-running sitcom and animated show in American TV history. However, in an interview this week, showrunner Al Jean has revealed that its days might be numbered. Jean spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about the much-loved show, and discussed what he thought might happen after the current contracts that take the cast to a 28th season run out. "It's quite possible that we don't have to go through the whole negotiation for [season] 30," he said. "I wouldn't be stunned if we stopped at 28, but my bet is on at least 30. But then you'd have to resign them again. "If you made me pick one, I'd say the likeliest is ending after 30, but I've been wrong before. I thought five seasons was good when I got there." Elsewhere in the interview, Jean talked about the rumours that Homer and Marge might be splitting up in this season. This caused an online backlash, just as the rumour that a major character was to be killed off in season 26 had. "I was startled," he admits. "The only thing that compared to it was the year before. Both times, I'd offhandedly mentioned one plot of one show, with a major character dying, and then Homer and Marge separating. I never said 'divorce' because I'm that cautious. Both times it was worldwide headlines. "We did a rebuttal on the splitting up, but of course I'm trying not to give away what happens, and walking that fine line. But rest assured, the show is in the hands of the people that have thus far avoided catastrophe." Source http://www.gamespot.com/

Polish up your gold chains and start humming that theme tune because The A-Team is up for yet another remake, this time as a TV show over at Fox. According to Deadline, the studio is developing a new take on everyone’s favourite gang of mercenaries, with Fast & Furious producer Chris Morgan set to lead the charge. This time around, our quartet of heroes will be former Special Forces soldiers attempting to hunt down the black ops baddies who framed them for a crime they didn’t commit. This will be the over-arching storyline, but the series will apparently maintain the mission-of-the-week structure of its ‘80s predecessor. The franchise was recently rebooted for the big screen, with Bradley Cooper and Liam Neeson among the stars cast, but the anticipated sequels have yet to materialise. Whether a "contemporary" spin on the original series has better luck remains to be seen, but we can all look forward to the inevitable Mr. T cameo with bated breath. Source http://www.gamesradar.com/

NBC have announced a straight-to-series order for a drama prequel based on Luc Besson's 2008 action film Taken, according to THR. The writer and director is set to produce the new TV show, which will revisit the world of the film. We don't know much about the show so far other than the fact it's based on the kick-ass action movie, which saw Liam Neeson deliver the most quotable speech in the history of cinema. The fact that it's a prequel would seem to suggest that it will focus on Bryan Mills' CIA career, before he became a super protective dad who had to chase down his daughter's kidnappers. Could we even find out what turns Mills into such a badass in the first place? Maybe he used to be a softie... So far there's no writer, showrunner or cast members attached to the series, and the number of episodes is still unconfirmed, but with the (slightly delayed) popularity of the film, Source http://www.gamesradar.com/

Jenna Coleman, who plays Doctor Who's assistant Clara Oswald, has announced that she is leaving the show. There were rumours earlier this week that Coleman was preparing to exit the BBC's long-running sci-fi adventure series, but she has now confirmed the news. "It’s been in the works for a very long time," she said during an interview on Nick Grimshaw’s Radio 1 show. "Steven [showrunner Stephen Moffat] and I sat down a year and a half ago and tried to work out the best place to do it, and the best place to tell a really good story. Hopefully that's what we've done. "I think it's really cool. Obviously we're not going to give away any details, but it will happen at some point this season." "There's not a lot of jobs where you get to go to work and have a spaceship, and an alien is your best mate, and also run away from monsters," she told Grimshaw. "You kind of think this job is only going to happen once. It's been so much fun." Coleman joined the show in 2012, when Matt Smith was playing the Doctor. She remained by the Timelord's side when he regenerated in 2014 into current star Peter Capaldi. Her decision to quit the show coincides with the announcement that she is to play Queen Victoria in an eight-part mini-series for British channel ITV. Source http://www.gamespot.com/

If the season 5 finale of The Walking Dead had you on tenterhooks, then feast your eyes on this preview double whammy. After debuting earlier today at San Diego Comic-Con, AMC has posted the latest trailers for both of its zombie series online; The Walking Dead and its prequel-companion show Fear The Walking Dead. The last time we visited Rick's gang of survivors, their cosy set-up at Alexandria was thrown into question as Sheriff Grimes plugged a resident full of lead. It's not the first time Rick's had blood on his hands -- and by the looks of things, it won't be the last. His bloodied-face accompanies a slew of references to a new threat, swirled throughout the trailer. More walkers? Or something worse? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUaxF2gGumU Turning now from the action-packed, gore-soaked trials of TWD to its sister show, where the harrowed faces are switched out for remarkably rested ones. Which is no surprise as Fear The Walking Dead begins right as the virus takes hold across the country in Los Angeles. A small group, led by Kim Dickens and Cliff Curtis, come together to figure out exactly why people aren't staying still when they're shot to bits. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8HJVBrSpMs It might hail from the same creative team, yet the stylistic and thematic approach strikes out on its own. As the cast and crew outlined during the SDCC panel, the emphasis is on family drama - not the incessant threat of becoming a snack. That grisly predicament will of course make itself known to the Californians over time... The Walking Dead returns for a 90-minute season premiere on October 11. Fear The Walking Dead debuts on August 23. Source http://www.gamesradar.com/

Remember back in 2013 when Skydance announced that a Terminator TV series had entered development? No? Well, it might be difficult to recall because we've heard nothing on the project since. However, with Terminator: Genisys gearing up for release next week, Skydance CEO David Ellison has confirmed to Collider that the accompanying series is still in the pipeline. At the time of the announcement, X-Men: First Class scribes Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller were attached to script the show, which would "follow a critical moment from the first Terminator film (1984) and, where the film's [Genisys] story goes one way, the upcoming series will take the same moment in a completely different direction. As the rebooted film trilogy and the new TV series progress, the two narratives will intersect with each other in some surprising and dramatic ways." And while Ellison and his Skydance CCO Dana Goldberg remained tightlipped on story specifics, they did verify that the series is very much in the works. "It’s something that we’re developing as we speak," said Ellison, "To speak kind of larger to that, one of the things we would love to do at Skydance—it’s a very lofty goal—is to build worlds across multiple mediums." He adds that the series will crossover with Genisys, with the aim of securing a spot for the 13-episode show on a cable network. Should Genisys perform well at the box office, and receive a solid critical response, we could be seeing the Terminator back on the small screen for the first time since The Sarah Connor Chronicles' premature cancellation. Which still hurts. Terminator: Genisys opens on July 1 in the US and July 2 in the UK. Source http://www.gamesradar.com/

The Lone Gunmen would be proud. Actors Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny -- FBI Special Agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, respectively -- have been using their social media accounts to give fans sneak peeks at personal moments in their long-anticipated return to "The X-Files." Fans have been eager for "X-Files" updates ever since it was announced the hit sci-fi series would return to Fox with a six-episode mini-series premiering in January 2016. Anderson tweeted, "And so it begins" with an image of Mulder and Scully's chairs on the set, where filming started Monday. If that wasn't enough to get fans shouting "I want to believe," Anderson also tweeted alien and lipstick kiss emojicons along with a selfie of herself back to Scully's red hair. Duchovny also tweeted from the plane on the way to "The X-Files" set, "Hello Vancouver ? Mulder? Here I come..." Once he arrived he tweeted a photo of "The X-Files" welcome binder...complete with a UFO graphic. And today Duchovny teased fans with a very dark image of his script placed on his chair. But it was "X-Files" creator Chris Carter who let a doozy of a spoiler out on Instagram with an image of a clapperboard that read, "UFO TEST." In addition to Anderson and Duchovny reprising their roles, other main cast members from the original "X-Files" series are returning including William B. Davis as the Smoking Man, Mitch Pileggi as Mulder and Scully's direct supervisor Walter Skinner, and Annabeth Gish as Special Agent Monica Reyes. "Community" actor Joel McHale will play Tad O'Malley, "the anchor of a popular conservative Internet news network who becomes an unlikely ally for Fox Mulder," according to Deadline. Be sure to follow the official "The X-Files" Fox Instagram account for the latest updates from the set. "The X-Files" premieres January 24 on Fox. Source http://www.cnet.com/
