Only use auto-assign; that's imho the only way to get a chance at fair and balanced teams. It does annoy me from time to time. When selecting auto-select, you'll probably be put in the team with the least amount of players. In my experience, I wind up in OPFOR for about 85% of the games. In almost every map, about 70% of the players stacks in Marine, while the others (mostly auto-select users I guess) wind up in OPFOR. It would be nice to play some more on the marine side. But until there are no uneven teams anymore at the start of the map, I will continue using auto-select.

True, hadn't thought about it in this way. Do like the idea of the most creative kills e.g. Still do think we need to emphasize that kills aren't all there is in playing a game. Me, for instance, I probably never would get any kill-bases-award. But I do like ambiance and creativity. The thing I'm trying to say is: I think we should have awards that are reachable for more players, and not only those who generally end in the top of the kill list. We are not a 'kill-community', but also a gaming community. Couldn't we form a team/jury to judge the video's/screens of creative things, so that we wouldn't give the already hard-working admins any more work?

Like the idea, but why always focus on the best player killing? Like to see something which also underlines other important things. Couldn't we implent a consolation price for worst KDR? Or something about creating ambiance or tackling cheaters?

Agree, but the accuracy of the P90 is somewhat dramatic. It's like my grandma (85yrs) is holding the gun. How do u deal with shooting from distances, or do u avoid shooting from distances? I like close-quarter fights, but in some maps you are forced to shoot on a somewhat greater distance. E.g. on backlot. I find the MP5 far more 'allround' (in: close-quarter fights AND medium-range shooting) than the P90. Forget shooting someone in a medium-range, except if you can surprise him.

Spawns do change from time to time right? Teams change on a regular basis side on maps and the spawn changes with them. But in some ocassions, 1 or 2 players are spawned directly in the enemy territory, mostly in/behind the lines. Never got the clue why/how it happens, but if it happens: just enjoy surprising the enemy, I guess.

Place Vote here for Beginners Map Rotation
Koekje replied to speedfact's topic in COD4 Map Requests / Feedback
Nice to see the rotation changed. Some maps are heavily critisized and discussed on the server (Downpour for example), but in general I think we have set up a nice rotation for the server. Oh, and.... <3 Overgrown. Tactical warfare! -
Haha; nice one! I totally agree with you on that Lulu!

Wouldn't it be an idea to change the map cycle on the beginners server? I would like to suggest to remove crossfire. A real horror map; it's designed like somekind of bottle with a bottleneck in the middle. The effect of the design is that there are 2 corridors to pass through the map in which the two times collide. It's more like price shooting and spray&pray than strategic sneak in on the enemy. There are simply no ways to sneak in because of the existence of only 2 corridors (and the main street, but that one is scattered with snipers). Other members suggestions on replacement maps? I find overgrown a pretty competitive one Like to hear your thoughts, Koekje.

We Dutch (which I am) have a century-old habit of putting sayings on tiles in a Delftware style. The most common places to hang such tiles are the living room, work room and toilet. So I got the idea to make these tiles of CoD sayings you think of while playing. I made a few examples. Please share your sayings! Sayings How to make a tile? Making a tile is quite easy. Go to THIS site, it is in Dutch, so follow this steps: 1. You can type your saying in the field which says: "Type je eigen spreuk..." (Translated: type your saying here) 2. Click on the green arrows next to the text box. The saying will apear on the tile. 3. Choose a font of your liking on the right side. 4. Right click on the tile and select 'copy image URL'. This is dependent on your browser. I'm using Google Chrome, so I don't know if other browsers have this right-click feature. Otherwise, you could click 'properties' or something like that in order to retrieve the Image-URL. 5. Post it here on the forums! Let's tile this place full of saying! Koekje

A nice gathering of habits guys... Keep them coming!
-
Hi guys, In the past few weeks, I became aware of some habits that were working against me ingame. These habits or tricks are very simple and can quickly improve your gameplay by just doing them different or even avoiding them. I guess all of us have those habits and tricks which are easy to change or avoid them. Let's gather them here! 1. Jumping over Situation: CoD4 has an built in animation when jumping over objects or walls. E.g. a terrace wall. Your character grabs the wall and lifts itself over it. Problem with this action is: your gun disappears. You won't be able to use your gun for probably 2 à 3 seconds. Been shot many times when performing this action, just because you can't answer his fire. CoD4 does not always perform the jump-animation. With the smaller walls, you can jump yourself over without performing the animation Solution: If possible; avoid jumping over such walls or objects. Walk around it. When do performing the animation-jump: (1) make sure you are not in an easy-line-of-fire or (2) there are no directly enemies present at the location. 2. Reloading Situation: When being in the process of reloading, you get shot. While reloading, you cannot answer his fire. When your gun is empty; it makes sense reloading. But I believe that in more than 50% of the reloading-actions; it wasn't directly necessary. We are used to reloading after we shot someone. We want the security to have enough ammo in our gun to shot the next one. Being out of ammo and having having to reload is a huge risk. Solution: Be aware of the question: when to reload, but really: WHERE to reload? I completely understand the eager to reload. Hence; I do it myself all the time. But being aware of the location of reloading can help you greatly preventing situations such as being shot when reloading. If you shot someone, you'll have a free-space in most cases. Use the free-space to reload. Don't shoot a person and immediately walk further to search for the next one. Use the free space to reload and than walk further in search for the next one. When speccing; I've seen this a lot: a person shoots someone in a corridor. He walks further into the corridor, reloading his gun and passes a corner. Behind the corner there is a enemy waiting for him. The enemy noticed him from the sound of shooting his teammate just before. The guy can't shoot the waiting enemy around the corner because of the reloading. The guy had a 'free space' in the corridor when he shot his enemy. When he had used that free space, he could have passed the corner with a reloaded gun. His chances of shooting the 'waiting enemy' were greatly improved. Any other suggestions, bad-habits or tricks? Post them!
