its usually my bullets hitting them in the ass. This makes them move faster from the impact. Just a theory.

Gotta agree.

Crouching in mid air does not increase speed. However, because it gets your head lower, you can go under lower passages and it's usefull to get used to doing.

Hear are the points you should know about Full Beat also known as strafe. All text is taken from trickjumping tutorial from tjmod's homepage.

* You should ALWAYS move your mouse, even if the movement is so small that you almost can't see it. Mouse movement is what creates speed. You can't gain speed without moving your mouse, and moving your mouse wrong will either give you much less than optimal speed or actually slow you down.

* Moving your mouse, without holding any keys, will not give you speed.

* Holding the 'correct' keys, without moving your mouse, will not give you speed.

* If you STOP moving your mouse while jumping, while still hold the correct keys, your speed will remain static. In other words, your speed won't increase, but it won't decrease either.

* Releasing all keys while jumping will decrease your speed.

* Pressing the opposite keys while jumping (e.g. S instead of W) will rapidly decrease your speed

* If you move your mouse the wrong way, while still holding the correct keys, you will lose speed!

* If you move your mouse (slowly) the correct way, while still holding the correct keys, you will GAIN speed. So this is what you should try to do.

- When holding W+A, the correct way (direction) to move your mouse, is to the LEFT

- When holding W+D, the correct way (direction) to move your mouse, is to the RIGHT

* ONLY horizontal (sideways) mouse movements makes a difference. Vertical (up and down) movements have no actual effect. (This is a 100% fact!)

crouching in mid air does increase ur speed., seriously.

in jyamod to go fast u just need to strafe and crouch in mid air.

in etpro is another story and u guys are giving gamma tips..

I've never tried crouching in midair, does it make you fall faster or something?

Posted

gammajumping = bunnyhopping = jump in the air and jump again immediately after you land

The term gammajumping came from the first ET trickjump map that people could finish just by strafing and bunnyhopping. The map was made by Gamma and the map was named Gammajump.

Crouching doesn't make you fall faster or reduce your speed. It only makes you less tall.

I gave the the explanation of the term gamma because this made it look like the tips were given to the wrong thing. That is not the case gammajumping (actually bunnyhopping) is exactly what people do when they run fast downhill. Of course, people do it with different skill levels and most times there are important things, like enemies shooting at you, while jumping so you can't have the perfect mousemovements.

I used to have my own tj server. I know very good jumpers who have corrected my jump techniques. I don't need any lessons from you. Especially if your lessons would be about crouching in midair.

To clarify the hole thing. Your speed comes from the mouse movements like it was said few posts back.

One tip that was not given yet. If you change the direction instantly after the jump, you will get longer jumps. An example would be, you jump with w+a and instantly after you jump, you change to w+d. Just remember that you also need to move the mouse to the right direction to get more speed and moving it to the wrong direction will decrease your speed.

crouching in mid-air and sort of snapping your mouse(at the same time) does give you more speed. i do it all the time on F|A hardcore, it's a habit.

Crouching in the mid air does not increase speed.

About the snapping thing you are correct. When you change the direction you need to do a little 'snap'. The angle of the snap increases as the speed increases. Hard thing to learn in tj.

I too do midair crouching, for fun and when I need to go under low portals and stuff.

Can you consider that the crouching is just something you do along with other keypresses and mouse movements that do increase the speed. Just like some people may think vertical mouse movements have some effect in the speed while only the horizontal movements increase it. It's actually quite impossible to do mouse movements in only one direction :)

it does increase ur speed, am most surprised now that u say u had a tj server , anyways i dunno if they use this "teqnique" in tj servers, but they do in etpro races, and i tell u this cuz i participated in several races already lol.,

that what am telling u to lemme show u instead of having a useless "fight" in forum, as i said i have 1 hour today to do this, am not giving u a lesson am just showing u something that aparently is new to you and there is nothing wrong with it, last time i checked you are not an et-guru the god of all knowning in et., ppl learn new stuff everyday, swo why not give it a chance,

anyways i gave my xfire , am there for those who want some tips.

bye!

Yes, I'm not an ET guru. I'll admit I'm wrong as soon as I get some proof. Can you please record a demo in tjmod that shows the technique. I ask to do it with tjmod because with it you can see the keys that are pressed.

I found this from the tjmod forums. Dinius is the main developer of the tjmod.

http://www.trickjump.me/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=186&p=1069&hilit=crouching#p1069

Ok, so I was wrong when I said crouching wouldn't decrease speed. It in fact does decrease your speed.

Unless you can provide some actual proof, the thread has come to the end for me. Like you said, no use to argue uselessly on some forum. I only wanted to give some actual and precise information about how to bunnyhop fast around maps.

yeah i know where you are getting at...

but this we are talkin bout jaymod

in jaymod it does increase speed significantly

I haven't notice any increase in Jaymod either. However, are you talking about doublejump configurations or normal ones. I can't say are there additional mod dependent bugs with doublejump. I don't often play on doublejump servers. Though I have played enough on Jaymod doublejump servers to say that normal strafing works even with doublejump.

crouching in mid strafe jump only creates the illusion of going faster since your closer to the ground.

no

i was all day in xfire and no1 asked me to show u.

am again on friday for this so dont hesitate to contact me , so i can show u my "proof" lol,

i will show u in jaymod, and in etpro., dont see ur point using tjmod since its shit man,

we can just go etpro and make a race in adlernest or in delivery where is most notorius, then we can go to jaymod where is really more easy to do.

am in xfire friday got this again , let me kno!
