Birdman
So recently I installed ET again, but now when I (try to) open it this error appears: ET 2.60b win-x86 May 8 2006 ----- FS_Startup ----- Current search path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\etmain\pak2.pk3 (22 files) C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\etmain\pak1.pk3 (10 files) C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\etmain\pak0.pk3 (3725 files) C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\etmain\mp_bin.pk3 (6 files) C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory/etmain ---------------------- 3763 files in pk3 files execing default.cfg couldn't exec language.cfg couldn't exec autoexec.cfg Hunk_Clear: reset the hunk ok ...detecting CPU, found Intel Pentium III Bypassing CD checks ----- Client Initialization ----- ----- Initializing Renderer ---- ------------------------------- ----- Client Initialization Complete ----- ----- R_Init ----- Initializing OpenGL subsystem ...initializing QGL ...calling LoadLibrary( 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\opengl32.dll' ): succeeded ...setting mode 4: 800 600 FS ...using desktop display depth of 32 ...calling CDS: ok ...registered window class ...created window@0,0 (800x600) Initializing OpenGL driver ...getting DC: succeeded ...GLW_ChoosePFD( 32, 24, 0 ) ...35 PFDs found ...GLW_ChoosePFD failed ...GLW_ChoosePFD( 32, 24, 0 ) ...35 PFDs found ...GLW_ChoosePFD failed ...failed to find an appropriate PIXELFORMAT ...restoring display settings ...WARNING: could not set the given mode (4) ...setting mode 4: 800 600 FS ...using colorsbits of 16 ...calling CDS: ok ...created window@0,0 (800x600) Initializing OpenGL driver ...getting DC: succeeded ...GLW_ChoosePFD( 16, 16, 0 ) ...35 PFDs found ...GLW_ChoosePFD failed ...GLW_ChoosePFD( 16, 16, 0 ) ...35 PFDs found ...GLW_ChoosePFD failed ...failed to find an appropriate PIXELFORMAT ...restoring display settings ...WARNING: could not set the given mode (3) ...shutting down QGL ...unloading OpenGL DLL ...assuming '3dfxvgl' is a standalone driver ...initializing QGL ...WARNING: missing Glide installation, assuming no 3Dfx available ...shutting down QGL ----- CL_Shutdown ----- RE_Shutdown( 1 ) ----------------------- GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem Anyone knows how I can fix this? When I installed ET I did install a punkbuster (god knows what it does) Maybe this has something to do with the error?
schNee
wrong resolution. WARNING: could not set the given mode (4) ...setting mode 4: 800 600 FS set it to the resolution (x) u have and put it in ur config. also it couldn't load ur autoexec.cfg, guess its in wrong folder (put it in main) /r_customwidth "xxxx" /r_customheight "x"/r_mode "-1"
Clan Friend SunLight Posted November 13, 2016 Clan Friend Share Posted November 13, 2016 It's a graphics problem, it's not related to punkbuster. You can create a shortcut to ET and then add some extra parameters to it, like +set r_mode -1 +set r_customwidth [your desktop's horizontal resolution] +set r_customheight [your desktop's vertical resolution] also check your graphics card drivers
Birdman
That's the problem I can't open the console in ET because it doesn't open.... I guess I'll never be able to play ET again
DFighter
if you update your graphic card it should be fixed
Extalibanman
Definitely graphics problem, usually happens when the resolution is incorrect. Goto: C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\etmain - Delete Autoexec File Goto: C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\etmain\profiles\(your profile name) - Delete etconfig file This should bring back ET to a default state Also, as always with anything graphics related. Check your graphics card drivers see if an update is needed or an update has been done right before the problem. If bringing back to default doesn't work try: Goto: C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory Right click ET.exe file Send To Desktop (create shortcut) Then goto the desktop shortcut Right click Properties Goto Compatibility Tab Check mark box for "Run this program as administrator" Check mark box for "Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution" Find out your screen resolution: Goto desktop Right click Screen Resolution Another way to check, put this in file explorer window - Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display\Screen Resolution That should let you be able to run ET, run it, change your resolution to correct one corresponding to your screen, save it with autoexe as well. exit ET Then go back and uncheck the box for 640 x 480 screen resolution, restart ET, and hopefully it'll work!
Clan Friend SunLight Posted November 15, 2016 Clan Friend Share Posted November 15, 2016 That's the problem I can't open the console in ET because it doesn't open.... I guess I'll never be able to play ET again That's why I said create a shortcut... An alternative would be having an autoexec.cfg file with the right commands in it, and putting that in your etmain folder ET gives priority to the command line parameters, then reads the autoexec.cfg, if I remember correctly
