P8rpl3h4z3 Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 my current build is CPU Intel® Core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHz RAM 6gb ddr3-1333 (667 MHz) GPU Ati Radeon HD 4670 MB (not sure, everest doesnt regonize it ) i have have to force shutdown many many times. i cant install OEM anymore, maybe cuz i've done it few times allready. when i start computer, it takes about 2-4 mins maybe 5, before i can open any program my question is: i was planning to change hard drive to SSD and get new GPU, but since everest doesnt regonize MB i guess it has come to its end. so would it be better to replace MB and get new SSD, old hard drive is old version, not SSD (HDD i guess) i dont play alot of games just 1-4 so i dont need huge main hard drive space. and which vid card should i choose, nvidia or ati? budget plan is 300e (MB+SSD) + 150 to 250e to vid card thx for your advices Quote

Vanaraud Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Could be software related altogether, when was the last time u reinstalled OS, defragmented HDD, did general cleanup? What does SMART info tell about HDD condition? PSU model? Event Viewer could shed some light to your issue with PC being too slow Quote
MummyT Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Upgrading an old System is a mess! When you think about upgrading Mainboard - keep in mind that you normally need new CPU and new Memory (DDR4) as well. When I see your graphic card, which is around 2008/9, the rest of the components have same age. My Suggestion: Buy a nice System with weak onboard graphic but nice cpu (i5) - and plug a graphic Card which is "ok" (maybe Fujitsu). Many new Computers come with SSD by Default and Windows OS license. I built my PCs for a Long time myself, but nowadays, not anymore. Bringing your System up2date is not possible (my opinion). Btw - try cpuz for getting System info. Quote
Symfony Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 I would personally recommend against DDR4 for now as it's not that much better than DDR3 for consumer use. The MBs and RAM is more expensive than the DDR3 ones, and generally DDR4, in a consumer POV, isn't much better than DDR3. DDR4 is mostly used in servers for now. Quote
