Platinum VIP -=HipKat=- Posted September 7, 2016 Platinum VIP Posted September 7, 2016 So I've decided, I'm going to do a new build, part by part, buying what I can when I can so it'll take time to get everything. I'd appreciate you input, you experts, and ideas. So the first thing I'm looking at is cases. Here are the 2 I've narrowed it down to. This should give you guys an idea of what I'm looking for. Tell me what you think of these or if you have better ideas. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GN5IKA8/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3FMUD48ZGUZ51&coliid=IB0Y1VKQME58C&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019JKM1RG/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3FMUD48ZGUZ51&coliid=I3CBHMV24VIWZD 1 Quote

Platinum VIP -=HipKat=- Posted September 7, 2016 Author Platinum VIP Posted September 7, 2016 Is money an issue? Tell us what your budget is and we can put together the best possible configuration Money is an issue, which is why I can only buy parts 1 at a time. I don't want to go REAL cheap, but not over the top either. And I wanting something that will last for a few years like my current build has. Good thing is I don't need moniter (yet), mouse or Keyboard. Quote

Platinum VIP -=HipKat=- Posted September 7, 2016 Author Platinum VIP Posted September 7, 2016 (edited) That first tower is really pretty. DO WANT. I agree but I really like that split bay for extra cooling fans and the ability to move SSD/HDD bay to different places in the 2nd one Edited September 7, 2016 by -=HipKat=- 1 Quote

MB too pricy. gigabyte is pretty decent. IF you don't plan to overclock a whole lot go with: (http://www.userbenchmark.com/System/Gigabyte-GA-Z170-HD3P-CF/17494) just 100$ CPU too overpowered. go with the i5 6600k (http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Intel-Core-i5-6600K/Rating/3503) cost 235$ and is more than efficient GPU: go bigger or go home the $ you saved on the components above, invest it here. (http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Nvidia-GTX-1060/Rating/3639) newest shit and kicks butt for 225$ ram ok sad ok hdd maybe go cheaper, you don't need the speed. windows/programs/games go on the ssd you missed a PSU. Power supply (https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-BRONZE-Warranty-Tester-100-B1-0700-K1/dp/B018JYHBE6/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1473276209&sr=1-4&keywords=power+supply&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_browse-bin%3A2888266011) 3 Quote

BTW, think I should go with a MB I can setup SLI on?? I mean, this does need to last a few years and I added your PSU Edited September 7, 2016 by -=HipKat=- Quote
redy. Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 (edited) BTW, think I should go with a MB I can setup SLI on?? I mean, this does need to last a few years and I added your PSU yes, that is correct. If you plan on using SLI(nvidia) / Crossfire(ATI) you need a mainboard that supports the technology. The graphic cards are usually the components that use the most watt. So if you plan on putting 2 in there, calculate the watt you need. for the 1060 you need up to 145watt. For 2 cards in SLI this means nearly 300Watt. So leave some buffer for the other components. Also the additional generated heat could become an issue. To go SLI with your system is like shooting birds with canons. The 1060 is a decent card, but for SLI you might want to invest more and get the 1080 instead of having the hassle with two cards. Not saying I will go SLI, but to have the option incase I decide to go that way in a year or so seems like a good idea. Quote
Platinum VIP -=HipKat=- Posted September 8, 2016 Author Platinum VIP Posted September 8, 2016 How much money $ do you want to spend? I don't want to go crazy but not real cheap either. I want to do a quality build without breaking myself Quote
