GraveDigger Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Ok, Ok, here is the deal......if your an old fart then you remember MTV from scratch. You remember when MTV actually played videos. Martha Quinn, Adam Curry, "down town" Julie Brown, Headbangers Ball & 120 minutes, etc... remember Randy of the Redwoods..? I thought so. So here is my challenge to you .. if you were watching MTV in the early 80s then post a video. Something that was not only a popular song, but a song that is worthy of being shared with others. It should be a song that you would want to turn someone on to. i will kick it off with a video & song that is one of my all time favorites--you dig? German version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9whehyybLqU oops, all most forgot to toss this one in . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0XLKcMoXRE English version--(i like German version more) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14IRDDnEPR4 2 Quote
Thor Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Ok, I gotta share some good old video classics here that were some of the most popular videos at the time MTV first aired. And yes, I remember when MTV was actually (Music Television Videos) and didn't have commercials, talk shows, soap operas and all the other crap that they have now. Back then it was 24 hour music videos and nothing else! So, with that said, here are some memorable vids that helped me take the never turning back road into Heavy Metal and perhaps corrupted what was once an innocent young boy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WT1LXhgXPWs I used this as my wake up alarm around 5th or 6th grade. I used to have one of those (ancient) alarm clocks that would play a cassette tape when the alarm went off. God my mother hated this I used to sleep through it after a while (got used to it I guess) and mom would wake me up saying "You need to get rid of that trash or I will!" and drag me out of bed, sometimes very unpleasant like And of course, after I found Quiet Riot there was no turning back, I was addicted and had turned to the Dark Side and not even Yoda could help me Quote

Thor Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Ahh yeah, who can forget AC~DC an absolutely influential band of my child hood, teenage years, 20's and still rocking with them today. I guess this thread just wouldn't be complete without this AC~DC vid on the first page somewhere. And of course we can't forget that even the good old Aussie's may have come a long way but they certainly made it to the top! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1iR2Wi3u5o But of course with all this great Old Fart music being shared here I have to mention one of my all time favorite bands and still on my top 3 list with some of the most unforgettable videos and The best concert I have ever seen with the most drop dead babes (even beating Van Halen) of all bands, the unshaven duo from south of the border Yankees beware don't mess with Texas . . . ZZ~Top!! So to all you old Head Bangers out there keep on Quote
PHANTASM Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 lol Twisted Sister was awesome Thor. Liked them when I was 14. Then I discovered this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=En4XXx1qRdg (Btw the song doesn't start til ~30 seconds in so be patient lol. The first half of this song is the best metal song ever. Then it goes downhill) Quote
