Platinum VIP -=HipKat=- Posted February 12, 2016 Platinum VIP Share Posted February 12, 2016 I'm thinking about adding a sound card to my computer. Since my motherboard has onboard sound, will a PCI board automatically change the sound to the sound card or do I have to do something to disable the onboard sound? Heaven:)
Save yourself some cash and don't bother with a sound card. Seriously, I haven't heard of people buying them exclusively in years, they're just not worth it anymore unless you're some sort of audiophile. Are there no other upgrades you could consider? (I know you've just got a mouse and keyboard) What about a SSD, a new monitor? Edited February 12, 2016 by Heaven:)
Platinum VIP -=HipKat=- Posted February 12, 2016 Author Platinum VIP Share Posted February 12, 2016 The problem is that Windows 10 killed the audio software for my onboard sound and now I cannot use my headset or mic. Actually I can use the headset but not the mic so I figured if I had a sound card with the software package and I can use my headset again

redy.
Thanks for giving a helping hand heaven. If you can share solutions it might help others that run into similar issues. One possible solution: - Use an USB headset. I have the following: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/stereo-headset-h390 nothing super fancy but it does the job. (Will link driver, if allowed) Step 1. Download updated Via driver Step 2. Extract driver from .zip and install Step 3. Reboot. (VDECK software will promt you to install after reboot. This is a crucial step) Step 4. Once your ASUS G75VW is booted install VDECK software when prompted. Step 5. Open up VDECK software and click on the configuration icon in the bottom right hand corner Step 6. Select the option redirect headphones Step 7. right click on the start icon in the bottom right hand corner and then click control panel. Now select sound. Highlight speakers and then click configure like in the picture below. Step 8. Check 5.1 Surround and click next. Step 9. Now Uncheck Side Pair. Step 10. Uncheck Surround speakers (If you are not using surround sound) and click next then finish) Edited February 14, 2016 by Heaven:)
