So you would say all applications are able to sell our personal information to make a profit? I guess at least with android you always get to see what permissions you give the application right?

Yes. All apps have this potential. 

 

Actually it's not just apps. Facebook. Myspace. linkedin. Steam. Sony. Shit, even FA could sell personal info if the founders really wanted to.

 

The truth of the matter is, if you use anything with online services you're at risk. The way I see it, if you don't want to risk having personal info stolen or sold don't A: Use said online services or B: Put shit online that you may some day regret.

Even less I guess haha. Though the scarce moments that I do the legal pages literally state some ownership claims and responsibility statements. I do believe there is some upcoming European change in law that you can not simply expect people to read all that text and therefore you are not able to legally claim people agreed to the full text, whatever is in it.

There's an episode of South Park that deals with this. It's called the Human Centipad. Great episode about this sort of thing regarding reading the TOS.
