Bandai Namco has announced that owners of the Games for Windows Live version of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition will be able to transfer their game, saves, and achievements to Steam for free.

Games for Windows Live users will be able to redeem their Games for Windows Live Tokens on Steam to get Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition at no additional cost starting next month. As well as this, during November owners will be able to move their save data (characters + progress) and achievements for free.

It’s worth noting that while the game token can be redeemed at any time, the window to transfer saves and achievements will only be open during November.

“The specific migration start and end dates will be available soon; however the migration period will begin sometime in November 2014 with more specific dates to come,” the publisher added. “We will be sharing more information soon regarding the migration process soon, so stay tuned!”
