Mr.Karizmatic Posted September 28, 2014 Share Posted September 28, 2014 We’ve know that United Front Games was working on a follow-up to Sleeping Dogs called Triad Wars for some time now, but the studio has finally unveiled the first concrete details about the project, launching the official website and releasing the above debut trailer. In short, it’ll be a free-to-play, online action game set in an open-world version of Hong Kong. The basics of gameplay seem to be largely similar to those in Sleeping Dogs, with driving, melee combat, and third-person shooting all making an appearance. The difference is that those gameplay elements will apparently be joined by a new strategy layer that allows you to build up your own criminal empire and compete asynchronously with other players, though details on that side of things are still scarce. Storytelling will obviously take a backseat, with Sleeping Dogs protagonist Wei Shen being replaced by a user-created character, though it looks like some characters from that game’s story will at least be making cameo appearances, as the trailer features glimpses of Smiley Cat and Not Ping. The team also held a reddit AMA answering a handful of fan questions about the game. Among the new details were that the team isn’t shooting for any MMO-type experience, that players can only create male characters at the moment (though that might change), and that the game might someday end up on consoles, even if there are no hard plans for the time being.
