No worries... I get asked that often. haha. It's real hard to beat laser. In some states detectors are illegal so double check yours. I still wouldn't spend the $. Get a tattoo instead.   :P

Here in Oregon it is against the law to have any laser or radar detector in your possession.  Also, the police use off phasing single shot lasers.  You cant detect them far enough away to do you any good.

The best speeding ticket deterrent is obey the speed limit.  But I am an old guy, so wave when you pass me...I will wave when I pass you and that cop.

There is a thing out there called a flash emitter detector.  They use them on jet fighters.  When hit with a laser beam, the windshield flashes.  I think they are around 50 thousand dollars.

What is cool is that California State Police don't use them.  They just track you.  Stealth.

The bad thing is this.  GPS equipped cars will tell on you.  The police will soon be able to pull the data from your GPS unit and if it shows you have been speeding,  you are busted. Yep, coming soon to

a highway near you.  Right now it is on appeal and being looked at by the appellate court in DC.  Also, insurance companies are trying to get access to your GPS info to see what kind of driver you are,

and set your rates accordingly.   So learn how to clear your GPS memory and also the computer memory for the engine and transmission.  Auto manufacturers use that data to check and see if you broke

the warranty rules by over revving the engine.  Big brother is watching.

Laser or go home.

But if the cop runs POP Laser, and you don't see him/her before they turn it on, you're screwed.

EDIT: Oh and I use a Beltronics model something. I don't know, it's a few years old, covers all radar bands, and laser as well. I haven't gotten a ticket with it yet, and in my area, most cops run Radar still. :)

EDIT: Found my manual. Beltronics Vector 995. Toodles!
