ecLipse~ Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 The server is acting weird, everyone is freezing every 4/5 minutes (connection icon above their heads show up for a brief moment) and people's pings jump up abit then back to normal, I wanted to use that program right now but I forgot, winzar or winwap or whatever it's called... I can't think right now...and another thing is that it says we have 30 maps on the server and it depends who's on, well we had a full server and minas was not on the rotation, was this removed? or why isn't it showing up? .... Quovadis Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 winmtr report seems pretty normal other than the high ping from computer to router but that is due to wifi. 1% packet loss is not real since (953/954)*100 != 1 If you could get a few screenshots of your lagometer while this happen that could be helpfull. Arkinder Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Hi all, I will post my MTR results later today as I am not on my regular computer, and I would like to use the UDP protocol on the Linux distribution. I took some extra time yesterday to: Reset the modem, disabled wifi, a clean reinstall of the graphic drivers, a reinstall of my mice drivers, and cleaned out my ET folders. I mostly experience mouse "jitter" during what is normally a smooth swipe, and I run into objects that are not there or that are not close enough to me. I examined my mouse input in game while it happens and the input is 1:1. I don't use acceleration. Yet at times it is like information flies away and the cross hair jumps over clusters of pixels. I also tried two other mice and all 6 ports of my USB hub in addition to the two on my laptop itself. So I humored the idea of an unusual amount of screen tearing and tried enabling v-sync, triple buffering, and r_swapinterval 1 (in game v-sync) to no avail - not surprising. I intentionally wait for my teammates to be clear before moving as getting spooned while trying to strafe is just annoying. However, occasionally the player models move but I cannot jump over it or I am knocked to one side. This tends to happen at the beginning of the map and I have a theory as to why. Although it hasn't occurred enough to be certain... I believe it could be caused by players with a poor connection that are dropping packets so for 700ms at the beginning of the map he or she essentially has not moved because the game has nothing but the default game state for that player to compare my action to. Both times the player who "moved" had over 200ms of latency with a variance of +-80ms. I am aware this is simply a representation of the trip time for the packet and not accurate latency. With packet loss that player has the potential to be almost a full second behind at the start of the map. I believe this to be the most logical cause as my lagometer shows only interpolation, no packet loss, a consistent trip time, and no translucent green. I also monitor my network connection. Windows update, Adobe update, etc... are disabled during game play. I tried an old desktop as well and I have the same bizarre mouse lag. I have yet to try the ET:L client but it has mouse input irregularities of its own. I should mention it mostly occurs when shooting other players. I am on my work connection but I ran winMTR for Jay2 and HC (which is closer to me than Jay2 and I don't experience these anomalies there). There are eight other machines on this connection so the travel time is not exactly accurate compared to my normal conditions. However, the connection is the same and from the same ISP. My normal trip times for each server is 54 and 32ms respectively. |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | **.***.***.1 - 0 | 530 | 530 | 1 | 1 | 4 | 1 | | **.***.***.1 - 0 | 530 | 530 | 35 | 39 | 71 | 36 | | **.***.*.2 - 0 | 530 | 530 | 37 | 41 | 93 | 38 | | **.**.**.110 - 0 | 530 | 530 | 37 | 67 | 438 | 39 | | **.**.**.11 - 1 | 527 | 526 | 37 | 42 | 131 | 38 | | **.***.***.1 - 1 | 526 | 525 | 37 | 42 | 137 | 38 | | POS2-0.GW1.ATL4.ALTER.NET - 1 | 519 | 516 | 40 | 43 | 87 | 41 | | 0.so-2-3-0.XT2.ATL4.ALTER.NET - 1 | 526 | 525 | 39 | 48 | 135 | 41 | | 0.xe-10-1-0.BR3.ATL4.ALTER.NET - 1 | 515 | 511 | 40 | 47 | 112 | 41 | |xe-0-5-0-21.r03.atlnga05.us.bb.gin.ntt.net - 1 | 527 | 526 | 51 | 69 | 169 | 70 | | ae-1.r04.atlnga05.us.bb.gin.ntt.net - 0 | 530 | 530 | 60 | 66 | 169 | 61 | | ae-8.r20.asbnva02.us.bb.gin.ntt.net - 1 | 515 | 511 | 56 | 65 | 136 | 85 | | ae-8.r23.nycmny01.us.bb.gin.ntt.net - 2 | 507 | 501 | 62 | 68 | 118 | 65 | | ae-1.r06.nycmny01.us.bb.gin.ntt.net - 1 | 515 | 511 | 62 | 65 | 108 | 64 | | xe-5-0-5.ar1.nyc3.us.nlayer.net - 1 | 526 | 525 | 63 | 68 | 180 | 66 | | as20473.ae7.ar1.nyc3.us.nlayer.net - 0 | 530 | 530 | 62 | 69 | 169 | 67 | |ethernet1-2-2-c1-16-b2-1.pnj1.choopa.net - 1 | 527 | 526 | 60 | 65 | 120 | 63 | | 108-61-21-94.constant.com - 1 | 515 | 511 | 59 | 64 | 146 | 66 | |________________________________________________|______|______|______|______|______|______| WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | **.***.***.1 - 0 | 718 | 718 | 1 | 1 | 5 | 1 | | **.***.***.1 - 0 | 718 | 718 | 35 | 38 | 56 | 36 | | **.***.*.2 - 0 | 718 | 718 | 36 | 41 | 89 | 40 | | **.**.**.110 - 0 | 718 | 718 | 37 | 42 | 138 | 42 | | **.**.**.11 - 1 | 714 | 713 | 37 | 39 | 70 | 38 | | ***.***.***.1 - 1 | 710 | 708 | 37 | 41 | 102 | 38 | | POS2-0.GW1.ATL4.ALTER.NET - 1 | 714 | 713 | 40 | 45 | 114 | 67 | | 0.so-2-3-0.XT1.ATL4.ALTER.NET - 1 | 711 | 709 | 40 | 49 | 151 | 65 | | 0.xe-10-0-0.BR3.ATL4.ALTER.NET - 1 | 711 | 709 | 40 | 48 | 110 | 92 | |xe-0-5-0-21.r03.atlnga05.us.bb.gin.ntt.net - 1 | 699 | 694 | 53 | 69 | 123 | 86 | | ae-1.r04.atlnga05.us.bb.gin.ntt.net - 1 | 710 | 708 | 60 | 65 | 137 | 89 | | ae-8.r20.asbnva02.us.bb.gin.ntt.net - 1 | 707 | 704 | 56 | 73 | 187 | 92 | | ae-8.r23.nycmny01.us.bb.gin.ntt.net - 1 | 714 | 713 | 61 | 70 | 150 | 111 | | ae-1.r06.nycmny01.us.bb.gin.ntt.net - 1 | 711 | 709 | 62 | 68 | 126 | 83 | | xe-5-0-5.ar1.nyc3.us.nlayer.net - 1 | 703 | 699 | 63 | 70 | 120 | 86 | | as20473.ae7.ar1.nyc3.us.nlayer.net - 0 | 718 | 718 | 62 | 71 | 145 | 100 | | vl104-as1.pnj1.choopa.net - 1 | 710 | 708 | 63 | 77 | 869 | 94 | | 216.155.146.19.choopa.net - 1 | 714 | 713 | 59 | 66 | 133 | 91 | |________________________________________________|______|______|______|______|______|______| WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider I will post another MTR on my home machine later as ET uses UDP packets and uses 1400 byte chunks to prevent router fragmentation. Arkinder Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 It seems that MTR doesn't have support for Mavericks yet, so I will try to put it on my old laptop later if I have time. I contacted my ISP just to be certain they were not to blame and they have been working on some things in my area, however nothing directly on my line. All in all the lag seemed to be reduced yesterday but it is still very much there. My ISP said they would be done by the end of the week and if the lag persists through the weekend I will post again. It just makes little sense considering the lag is server specific. Regards, Xeno Quote
ecLipse~ Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 https://www.mediafire.com/?o65mhs07qs7gn6bWatch 2 minutes of this demo and you will see exactly what I'm talking about, this kind of lag has been emptying out the server, all day bots and only 1 or 2 maps where the server had decent amount of players... 1 Quote
ecLipse~ Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 !uptime shows the server has been restarted 12 hours ago. So far no lag or freezing, Maybe issue has been solved.. 1 Quote
