yellow flash
So i bought steelseries siperia v2 headset 7 months ago it worked fine for 5 months then mic just died no sound from it i didnot change any settings. So i used table mic for ts that cost 10 bucks, today i tried headset mic again and it worked for 2h then it died again it makes sound if i switch between mute and unmute button other than that it doesn't do any sound. I can keep using table mic but would be better with headset and yeah its weird. I lost receipt so i cant get new one's from store
Leader RedBaird Posted July 25, 2013 Leader Share Posted July 25, 2013 I once had a headset where the mic began working weakly. It turned out that the mic stalk was removeable! The end of the stalk had a plug and it could be unplugged from the headset. You could unplug the mic-on-a-stalk and plug in a desk-mic. I plugged it in firmly and it worked fine thereafter. P.S., I was yanking on the stalk thinking I could remove it and wire in a desk mic, but that was unecessary. ADDED...looks like your mic is retractable, so no plug I guess. BUT, from one user-site: However, you could always buy a cheap microphone, take it apart and put a new one in siberias. If it still doesn't work, then the problem is in cables, which is kinda **cked up EDIT:Try unscreewing the microphone cap and connecting a different microphone without solding the wires just to give it a quick test. It will give you a definite answer.."without soldering the wires" I think he means. That sounds like the mic can be pulled out and you can clamp wires from another mic to the bare connections, just to see if the second mic works or not. You don't have to disconnect or de-solder any wires. You might have to disassemble your desk mike to get at its wires and use jumper-cables to connect them, assuming all the equipment uses USB. Old-style separate audio-in and -out plugs would be easier to mungle-together than USB. Another poster on that site described how he accidentally pulled his "retractable mic stalk" all the way out of the headset. He stuffed the wires and the stalk back in, but it didn't work thereafter. He should have dissected the device. ADD to my added: several people suggested that he double-check his mute button on the cable. (don't be insulted, please).
